Hi,

Has anyone found a trouble free way to move the Authentication App from one phone to another without needing to involve the Support Desk?

if the phone is rooted (Android), the settings can be exported with a backup app like Titanium then imported on the other device

When you have installed the app..you got also a security code...with this code on the Eu website you should be able to transfer it to a new device...

I got a new phone like a month ago. when I signed in with my Google account it automatically downloaded and installed all the apps including pocket.
It worked right away, didn't have to do anything to activate it.

Hi. Thanks for the replies.

Unfortunately I used a Samsung account to port apps and data from old to new phone. While it installed the app, it didn't seem to include the underlying data for Entropia Pocket.

So, I tried the MA method:
1. Logged into my account on the web using a security code from my old phone
2. Entered the de-activation code to remove 2 factor security.
3. Immediately followed the link to generate a new QR code
4. Scanned the QR code and entered the verification number and all seems ok :yay:

One thing to note. On my new phone, although the App asked for access to Storage it didn't ask for permission to the camera, so when i first tried to scan the QR code nothing happened. This was fixed by going to Apps on the phone, reviewing permissions and allowing the camera. Then worked like a charm.

Just wondering did you have a gold card before? I've always run into trouble when switching devices always had to give ID scans to support. It always goes back to me needs ng a gold card.

Hi. I had a GC on my account... and even though they said it was not supported anymore I had to create a support case to remove it and submit personal ID info. Also that code generated when activating the 2 factor app on my phone makes switching easy. Previously I would have to remove 2 factor from my account - log in with my gold card - activate 2 factor app... Was so confusing.

Sorry to revive this thread but it seems like the closest to the problem I'm having. I'm trying to transfer it to a new phone and am doing exactly as you describe, but when I click to generate a new QR code, it asks me to put in an authentication code from Entropia Pocket - which doesn't work because I have deactivated it! I can still get a code from my old phone, but when I enter it, it says "Bad code". I can use the code to reactive Entropia Pocket on the previous page, but then I'm still not able to use it on my new phone.

Very confused about what I'm supposed to do here...

It's asking for the code the app is giving you... just because it's deactivated it may not be uninstalled from your device. It's trying to get the code so it can sync them up.

As I said. I can get the code. The code doesn't work.

Support got back to me quickly and clearly didn't read what I wrote either. If I can't resolve this without the "help" of support then I may be stuck with my old phone for all eternity.

i'm guessing you used to have a gold card. did you also disable that before switching to entropia pocket. I had this same issue, the code it was asking for was my gold card code. see if you have the ability to disable your gold card. also i found i had to log out and log back into the site after disbaling the pocket. i've not followed the instrutions above and use Google authenticate which easily lets you export your auths to other devices and use multiple devices at once. I highly recomend the switch.

I think you're right about the gold card. When I tried it yesterday, the graphic on the page was suggesting I needed an Entropia Pocket code, but when I log out and back in again as you suggest, then try again, the graphic shows the gold card. Which would be fine, if I still had my gold card, but I don't, because they told us it was obsolete and wouldn't work any more... ffs

You could ask support to disable your gold card

I've done that now. Let's see if they reply within 6 months. I imagine they'll pointlessly ask me to provide photo ID which I don't have.
ug yea not having photo ID is going to be a problem. I dont even send a request in without attaching mine. I've never waited more then 48hrs for response. and most times it's less then 24.

Sorted it out with support - not exactly how I expected, as they disabled 2FA completely, which was a bit worrying, but that allowed me to generate the new QR code and get it activated on my new phone, so it's working as it should now. And when I logged in, I hadn't been hacked and had all my items stolen, so that's a bonus.

Not exactly relevant I think as most talk about android but for iPhone users : put your new and old iphone next to each other and it will ask if you want to transfer. Say yes and after 5-10 minutes everything from your old is on you new including every (well almost) login information... including Pocket .. I did this about a week or 2 ago and I kept working on the new one without me needing to do anything..

It depends on the operating system that runs your phone. If you own an iPhone, it is not as easy as you think to make such changes. If you have an Android phone, you can change the software code and move to another phone easier than before. I am not a professional in this field, and I can't help you with a proper answer to your question. That is why, if you need help, I suggest you visit salvagedata.com for more information. You can find good specialists there. Good luck to you.
