If this is a repeat post, sorry and lock, but I couldn't find one...

I am nosey and want to know what you all do irl?

Do you own a business?... Maybe your a porn star (eh jenna?)... studying?

This might be interesting to see how some players have made their fortune to buy uber gear in game...

Lets see...

Im not a Porn Star, but I produce them.

Chears.

I guess I'm not interesting as I have no uber gear

i'm studying how to make peds in entropia ...
but obviously i'm not a good student ;)

Feels like most I do is sit on airports waiting for next flight.

But on the rare occasions I actually do work I improve effiency at
companies by, studying, reporting and finally changing how they work.

Good plan, if you can cover my hourly rate and expenses of course ;)

I'm a carpenter/joiner. But to be more specific, i'm a stairbuilder. I build timber staircases and have done for the last 9 years. Having just had a baby, this does not afford me much spare cash, so no uber gear for me. Yet.

Since you're nosey, and decide to start a thread like this it would be a decent thing to start by telling what you do for a living IRL....just my 2 pecs :scratch2:

Im eating rolls with cranberries pate right now, no kidding!

I own a travel agency franchise :)

I'm a student, therefor I cannot actually get a full time job anyways. Closest thing I've done to something called a job (other than retail) is stock investing.

I do too much IRL, wish I didn't have to

(by this I mean work, sleep, etc ;) other things are good)

I hang around parks and schools with bags of sweets...:jawdrop:

I script C.A.T.I. surveys for the South African division of an international research firm

Right now Im a student again, well still in my first year. And never gotten further then that before ;)

Did some freelance research work for a newspaper.
Own a tiny part of a company which I helped set up, which is a drycleaning chain in India.

still unemployed... :(

but the last 10 years i did alot of webdesign and system administration...

<----video game tester.

my dream job :D

It's a good job, but don't be fooled... the pay is low, the hours are long, and it's very very tedious and repetitive.

Playing a game and testing a game are two very different things. First of all, I have no choice in what to play. Second of all, I have no choice in what I DO in what I play, and what I do play usually ends up being the same thing for about 2 years. Logging 6000 hours in a single game kind of kills it...

As far as your actual assignments, essentially, they sit you down and go "This is your assignment for the day" and you do it. That assignment could be a million things, including something as boring as "Sit here and reload this save over and over, killing this same creature, for 8 hours."

Also, it's not like I get to start a game and keep a save all the way through, playing along until I beat a game. I might restart dozens of times in a day. I might play a game for 6 months and ONLY ever see the first 20 minutes of the game.

Do I like my job? Sure, I love it. I'm around video games all day. However, it has it's major flaws, and is not as fun as it might sound. Just something to think about. :)
