Question: What drives you to go on with EU ?

To make my first million of $.When I will get that I will open a very high end coffee roastery and coffee shop where I can work 16 hours a day every day, 365/year.
After all that I will quit hunting and become full time crafter maintaining my shop(s) for the next 20 years +

Why, the latter of course ;) While you watch life passing by and think you're doing it wrong by not jumping right into the thicket of it, you see others making even bigger mistakes. We're all living in a big zoo...

"Stoopid umanz" is said by Advisor Khai-Ferrak but I'm not sure if's the first time such a line was used in game. Dem bad, dem all bad ;D

Just ask Linzey if he's hiring, you can work at his coffee shop. Saved you a million dollars :LOL:. I will take only 5% tip of that 1M dolllar if he ends up hiring you.

Roasting cofee is not the same thing as internet cafe that serve coffee, atleast that's what my basic English suggest me.I am uneducated sorry if I am wrong, besides that nobody will hire me, I never worked a day in my life so I have no chance.
If I wanted to work for someone else I would have applied before I started to play Entropia Universe but I play Entropia Universe to make my own fortune because I've seen is possible from people I got inspired from.
 
Right now I think I play because I hope a meta-verse will come along which gives my skills a currency, if you will, with which I can then play something better without having to go noob all over again. I expect MA will still take a share of the meta-verse, just as planet partners take a cut when avatars born there travel to a different planet. I hope the bigger platform suppliers that make up the meta-verse manage to get more stuff right in all domains...

Not a grinder, at least not these days.

EU has such a rich history of lore, interesting and rare items from times gone by. So many unique or otherwise incredibly rare novelty items that were not considered special 15 years ago have now become important pieces of EU history. Currently my motivation to play is building a museum to collect such items and preserve them, to avoid the sad reality that many of these items get left in inactive accounts, banned accounts etc and are lost to time. Some items I have are 3, 5, or less than 30 in-game, and 15 years old - and those numbers were at the time they were released. It would be a shame to see them disappear forever.

So that's me :)
 
So....

I managed to get a pretty unique BP. I would consider it unfair that I would take it and not craft the items for players.

OK.. I make some money on the MU, but it aint 5b plates..

I am waiting for some stuff to drop in MU and then I will make some guns. But pre loot 2.0 its not set in stone.

I think it is just knowing what is waht and how it can be played...

I can't really say, with the amount of guys willing to kill the whole thing that I can see an angle.. I mean I usually do but I am like 10-20% not 50% +

Far too many hero's in this game, not enough zeros... It will show soon. I think the normal guy will be just fine though. Like the rich guy will get fucked.

And that is fine by me.

Similar to this, I just play because it reminds me of the past (started playing first in 2006). EU is a big open sandbox and although not as lore friendly as it used to be, it is the main reason I log in.
 
hmmm...nothing better to do and waste money on ?
Started playing with no funds, keeping tabs on everything I spend and when my ecooimicals improved I stoped that and only shoot.
Nice way to wind down after work and "invest" into something where the servers hopefully will not shut down that soon (RIP SWG, Earth&Beyond and Matrix and a dozen others)
 
The game allows me to shift my focus from time to time. It’s therapeutic if you will.
 
PE/EU has always been a challenge and outside of the grind it can be fun. The grind does opens doors to great loot and other personal goals so its a bit of a trade off. Goals can be what you make of them so in that sense you can tailor the game to meet your needs. There are some things that are lacking but there are other games or other real life endeavors that can fulfill those needs.

I also like that when I decided to step back from active play I was able to withdraw and use those funds for other real life goals at the time. Right now I am in a build phase with my avatar and the game in all of its current scope and future outlook has renewed my interest in it. At least once or twice a year I do take a step back and reevaluate my progress and expenses in EU VS the level of fun and enjoyment gained from play.

If the future path MA and the PPs is clear it tends to give me drive to continue on. Their action or inaction is a big factor in how I evaluate if my entertainment budget and free time is worth spending on EU.

I enjoy collecting some of the old stuff... its fun to search the auctions and shops from time to time to see what else can be added to the house.

Baron- Are you displaying your collection anywhere currently?

After quitting EU you might come to the conclusion, that you no longer need coffee to stay alive during hunts :p (but that would be low-end coffee)
I LOVE the smell of high-end coffee, but I don't drink it :p
 
Same reason i open EL and PCF 1st thing in the morning at work :))
 
a reason to play EU?

I watch the daily youtube channels during hunts,
and I play EU during the daily youtube channels...

both are averagely entertaining activities which supplement to acceptable levels during off-duty hours.

I drink it for the taste not for the effect, most of the times :)
 
I'd say it's a little of all those things mentioned. And after 15 years, it's nice to see the progression of my avatar.

I'm not a crazy gambler but I definitely prefer EU to the casino. The money goes a lot further and it feels like I've got something to show for it in terms of avatar progression.
 
Another great thread!

For me it’s the endless complexity and the monster challenge of playing this game profitably at a high level - I’ve never come across anything else that makes me want to make spreadsheets about spreadsheets and actually enjoy the process. The community is also great, the drama while rare is pretty top notch too. With UE5 about a year out and dev activity ramping up throughout the game (except RT 😑) I’m really excited to see what the next few years are going to hold.
 
I'm friends with Lootius from back in the days (I could tell you stories...). I heard he was here, too, and since he owes me some I thought it'd be good to come here and wait for him returning it. Well, yeah, it's been a while...

Other than that it's fun, entertaining and relaxing if you don't play it like 18/7 or something.

The Rookie-channel is definitely not my reason for being here :D
 
4 things

the feeling of progression

socializing with soc-mates

the struggle for eco and finding ways to stretch dollars is fun

and i also find it pretty relaxing most of the time.
 
I Play thise game because I like the grind and I think it looks nice ... I dont need a 4k grafic it just needs to work ... I play OSRS as well ^^ I guess that tells everything lol
