if you get pinned down, log off go and have a cup of tea , go for a walk , watch TV , whatever .
Then they are wasting their time and you are doing something interesting...

i'd wonder how many people do this

"ismokedopealot" applies to several of the commonly seen pirates.

I doubt that PigBenis is a pirate. Just because someone's sitting in their quad does not mean they're a pirate. I've found it's best to only publish actual confirmed pirates publicly.

Also, it's a good idea to differentiate between "pirates" and what I call PVPers. Pirates are the players like Micjack, Stagger, Xane, Windy, etc; they spend most of their time in space and their only purpose in space is to steal your peds. They camp the safe zones and will harass you if you put yourself in a vulnerable position. They cannot ever be trusted in space or on planet.

PVPers on the other hand, are normal players who spend most of their time on planet and generally go to space to travel between planets, but they might engage you if they feel like some PVP action. For them, it's not about harassment and leeching off others, it's about fun. These are more trustworthy on a case-by-case basis. In space, you're much more likely to be attacked by pirates than pvpers.

All pirates are automatically added to my no-trade list. PVPers have to be real jerks to get on my no-trade list.

Your right of course. The thing to do when another player is being difficult is to quit playing their game. I went to sleep. Problem solved. In the morning, all clear. But my point is whine whine whine, and its obvious. Im sure everyone likes it when their gaming is interupted, especially if it is by another players who's goal is to interfere with your gametime and make it unplayable.

Like I said, isn't love grand.

Thanks, soReal. soreal.

But there is no way for a pirate to tell if one is carrying loot, and then there is the fact that while leaving FOMA, I was shot down five or six times in a row, within an hour. That is called pinned down. The last time I tried to leave, Vickie and pigbenis were just waiting, no thrusters, for me to enter PVP. Maybe for normal people, you have no loot, you get shot down once. Im not normal tho. I have been refused to use space.

but you are right. As are the pirates, I am a special case and have been targeted for posting this list. Not only should one not carry loot in space, but one should not try to do anything about it.

We live in a world that we allow to be controlled by the pirates.
we allow it.

I am far from a pirate, In fact I was afking for a few hours waiting for Vickie and you to leave. basically I just go afk anymore when there are pirates waiting for me to leave pvp zone. I just waste there time, and I have all the time in the world to wait. Ive been vocal about space pvp in many of my videos...I think its a complete waste and Im completely against it. Lootable pvp has no place in this game imho.

A Sleipnir pirate, well, I would not be scared of that so realllyyyy?

Pirate is a profession in EU. There is nothing wrong to list name of avatars who work as a pirate. There is repairer list, pilot list, shop owner list. Why there should not be a pirate list?

Pirates have been asking the community to treat them nicely and equally. They have been asking to be treated equally as any other traditional professions. In this thread, we do not say pirate good or bad. We just list who is working as a pirate. Simple and Clean.

Apologize, sincerly

Im glad you came, am, in fact, a big fan. That was why I was so suprised when I thought you were on vickie's team. The previous posters were right, it is easy to make a mistake, and you, dear sir, have been slandered.

In my defense, I do feel pressure to create a more up to date list, and posted you as suspected in my haste. You will be removed immediatly. I did try to talk to you at the time, and took your silence as intimidation.

Nothing to fear

A Sleipnir pirate, well, I would not be scared of that so realllyyyy?

If you are carrying no loot, and are not me, there is nothing to lose from pirates. So no reason to fear, kind lady.

I am unsure if the good-evil ranking follows the ship or the pirate. What I am sure of, is that I saw a sleipnir with a red arrow. Red-bad, Green-good. And even if sleipnir's are not the dog fighters quads are, cant pirates own more then one vehicle? And wouldn't a spotter at the station be very useful to the three pirates in orbit?

I thought it was odd too, but if they are not that organized, they can be, and it is not something I want to discount.

LOL!!! These are the more trustworthy??

Let's examine this trust for a minute, you see that Xane guy in space and you have no doubt whats in store for you. I would say you can "trust" Xane to shoot and loot. These other "trustworthy" pvp'ers that usually don't attack are the one you can't trust. And I always have the most fun when I win someones loot in fight.

...What I am sure of, is that I saw a sleipnir with a red arrow. Red-bad, Green-good. ...

Unfortunately this is not true.

First note that if you are in a "fair" ship, both "rude" and neutral ships will show up as Red. So if you are fair, an unarmed ship that has never attacked anyone will show up as red.

Secondly the karma system does not work as intended. Plenty of pirates are flying around in "fair" ships and will thus show up as a green triangle if you are in a "fair" ship. This is not a bug, it is a design flaw.

For example, Stagger, a well known pirate, is selling his UL quad. It is ranked as "trustworthy" and will show up as green if you are in a "fair" ship.

https://www.planetcalypsoforum.com/forums/showthread.php?229819-UNL-Quadwing-interceptor-Justifier

Additionally an individual player could have two different quads, one ranked as "rude" and one as "fair". The player could choose which one to fly according to the circumstance.

There are a few threads discussing the space karma system, here are a couple of them:

https://www.planetcalypsoforum.com/forums/showthread.php?233653-Space-ships-karma-should-be-changed

https://www.planetcalypsoforum.com/forums/showthread.php?215242-Karma-comes-back-around

Basically until the karma system has had a re-think and re-implementation the red/green triangles are meaningless.

One way to get an indication if someone is a pirate is leave the safe zone. If they follow you out and shoot first, it's likely they are a pirate (or perhaps they think you are).

actually the best thing to do is keep quading out, and instead of flying in a straight line when being shot, actually TRY TO DODGE.

Everyone in space who I've seen getting pirated, all they do is fly straight, for some unknown reason, making it easier for pirates to shoot them down (i tried intervening by smashing my quad into the pirate, and only saved one person).

They'll stop shooting you down if you can waste enough of their ammo. If you make them miss 10 times, that's 4 ped lost. It costs another 10 shots to take down your quad, so that's 8 ped lost (if you're not carrying loot).

Hipster, you got shot down 6 times out of FOMA because you quaded out too long between getting shot down and reviving. Hence, they thought you mined again and got loot. They're not intentionally pinning you down................

And the worst thing you could ever do is shoot back at a pirate if you want them to stop shooting you down. That makes YOU lose peds. If they shoot you down, that's only .5 pec decay, and with quad MU nowadays, that's only 1 ped vs the 8 peds they lose shooting you down.

Confirmation on Vikie

I was docked at Ark in the gunners seat when I saw vikie kill. She stood dead in space and just shot down the mark like shooting a fish in a barrel. Thats how they steady gun, by sitting still.

When it was time to go to the planet, I equipt a gunner and went for her. We sht her about six times but died. It WAS a waste of ammo, except the Quad we were escorting made it planetside safely.

So, to tell you, the gunner made no differance, but one pirate cannot shoot two quads down at one time.

If you want to fly safely, a gun wont work, unless its on your escort.

Ok, here is a big one

I have a confirmed report of the Dreadnaught attacking another MS with quad assistance. Talk about a big one, a mothership pirate!

Where's the fun in not shooting back :D

Hehe this latest attack actually happened yesterday when dn and stagger tried taking down kronan during our scheduled warps. Without any succes naturally. Was great as fun for all.
Naturally. :D I guess you and your crew enjoy fly-swatting.

Out of the two times I've been attacked in space, I have tried dodging once... I made it back into the safe zone with ~20% Quad SI intact (while the pirate wasted lots on missed shots), then spoke to the pirate who, after I told him I only had some fruit and stones, agreed to let me go (and actually did, as he had given his word).

The second time, I was far enough ahead to be out of range... So I just kept flying straight, told the pirate I wasn't carrying any loot and that we'd both just lose time and money if he attacked me, got an "Alright, good luck" and kept going while he turned back :dunno:

Those are two good experiences :D.

When I was in Ark SS, I was carrying some lesser elysia that I wanted to quad to NI to make some clothing. (I made the lesser elysia on ark, because that's where I mine :) ). Well, when I tried quading it to NI (30 ped tt), Xane tried attacking me, but, he was too confident that he could take me down, so he attacked prematurely (i was just right outside Yellow PVP). I turned back around and made it inside SS with 20 % SI.

Xane asked if I had loot, so I hit q, so that it looked like i was carrying a lot of loot. Then I went to go eat lunch and knew that Xane would stay inside SS until I quaded out :p. I was glad I could prevent him from pirating people for 30 mins.... well, when I got back, Xane had already gone and I was able to quad my loot to NI.... but then of course, the more cunning Stone was waiting 60 seconds away from SS, and stole it :)

well very good, but u never know xane be waiting right out side buut i strongly use MS i could provide that option
anyway pirate can be sneaky

a few thoughts...

Since the OP asked for tips: I carry a massive assortment of stackables, 1 sweat, 1 nova, 1 trox bone etc., when the pirate's loot window fills up, they think they've hoffed, until they go to count it, and find the value is under 1 ped.

This little clip isn't entirely accurate, but by 'examining' their website I was able to work out how to construct a forum freely, with free tools and software.

That knowledge is well worth the little PED I have lost being shot down dozens of times.

Shot down yes. Looted no. I never carry loot in space and never ever will. ;)

I see very few "pirates" though on your list. A real pirate would actually be out looking for loot. ;) Most those on your list are simply griefer's who would rather hang around the space stations and shoot people over and over again in the back for no reason except to be a douche.

You can have my confession! I'm a pirate at heart, gold and bounty be me curse yeerr

Add me to that list!

I currently do not posses any means of space travel but eagerly looking to commandeer a fine Galleass and sway a fine crew to do my evil bidding and one day we'll sail the disappointingly salt-less open space

Good reading +rep for the story!

Xane was betting on your 2nd try u will go the exact same route u did the 1st time. If u knew this cat-and-mouse game might be still on, why on earth (er.. space) would u do something so predictable!?
O well, in a hindsight we're all so damn smart, i know. Have made the same mistake - and learned from it. :)

PS: By the way the last 2 words doesn't sound right. Pirates don't "steal", they simply kill and rob ppl.

I did in fact kill you on your second attempt to leave I just did it without firing any shots ;)

New pirates:

Dane Schell
Raven
and some dude named Joaxio ____ something. They've teamed with smokeitup and are @ FOMA :)

You can add "Rimmbo Grimmbo Trimmbo" to your list. He tried to shoot me down twice today in space lol. Made a nice video of it. Gave me some captain skills phew! Second time he wasted at least 44 shots on me :)

What suxs is when someone you know from the sweat circle and thought was a really nice guy, turns out to be dark side, and you have to remove them as a friend and never talk to them again :( oh well makes room on FL for the good people who don't try to rob and kill.

Removed ZZZ Disabled for acts of piracy. Douche bag stole my 11 sweat
Pirates really make me hate this damn game.
