UPDATE:

Ship and new owner found, trying to pm them first and work things out on a fair scale, all though I have to say it was my fault for placing the auction and they should not be the victim, it will come down do capitalism versus ethics. Thanks for everyone's tremendous support and logistics and some very good comments were made. I didn't know we could put the deed into storage and still use it never tried it. Also I agree there should be a right click on any item to lock for sale, though I am no coder and again not implemented at this time so still my bad. Be sure to double check things even when they seem repetitive or mundane. -JIAN!

So,

After all these years I finally did it, royally screwed up and thought I was putting a land deed in auction for 1200 buyout, turned out it was the spaceship deed!!! There was lag splitting the land deeds and I was moving to fast, however I understand this is my screw up and someone got really lucky, It got bought out literally within 10 seconds but I did not see any additional offers. I know all sales are final I am just really crossing my fingers I can repurchase this from the purchaser, I would be willing to offer a substantial reward and make it still worth your while. I will be confidential and discreet please PM with any info. i am liable for the full price of this ship regardless.

Disclaimer: I was 100 percent sober when I did this(for those of you that know me)

In addition I apologize for screwing up the resale value for privateers in the auction info, obviously this was a human error, albeit a rather large one.

Be careful people, first time I ever wrongly sold any item just so happened to be this.

Thanks all,
Alex Jeffe Sailor

Ouch !!......Yup always take it easy when u sell anything over 1k lol. Check, double check, check once more then ok it :) Seen and heard of some very very dodgy characters in game...i do hope this individual is not one of those and has a hart.

GL

Wow :eyecrazy: That is so unfortunate :duh: I really hope you will get it back :)

To answer your question: If I ever had such a "luck" to get something like that so cheap I would probably give it back if the player would be looking for it.

JIAN JIAN JIAN

let's hope you find the person who bought it..

or look at the bright side, you got peds now

Another thing you have to consider: what happens next? Either these situations or scams - items like these will be resold and someone will be buying them. Ok, some might bid unknowingly, but others have read about it and still bid, and, no, they will not buy it to give it back, they just hope to get a cheap item because of TT SB. :)

Btw, what happened to that scammed MM?

Oh fuckkk Jeffe :eyecrazy::eyecrazy::eyecrazy::eyecrazy::eyecrazy::eyecrazy::eyecrazy:

you bloody noob!!!! I hope whoever bought is honest!

Awww shit man, I'm sorry. I hope it works out for you :/

Can't you like, go to the privateer in space and see who owns it? (No real clue if buyer needs to claim it or whatever for show up.)

O M G - I hope that whoever bought it is honorable, obvious mistake.

Jeffe, you have once again earned your title of 'Grand N00b'.

I'm sure buyer will see this thread, please return this ship!

Ouch :/

What was the Number on the ship? Would be interesting to follow its ownership if they opt not to give it back to you.

narfi

Dam :eyecrazy:what more can u say to that,

Good luck with getting it back

Oh FUCK! Mate that is not good! I think the lucky buyer will not be owning up for a while! What ship did u have? We can keep an eye out for it.

My gawd
:jawdrop:

Voted option 1. As an addendum, option 2 is the better option if you TT. Otherwise, yes, option 1.

That is awful though. I don't mean to say you shouldn't get it back. I just don't think it should be a rule.

That just sucks so bad....
Really hope the buyer will give it back. Unfortunately there are some serious scumbags out there, lets hope none of those got it!

Whenever I see something too good to be true on the auction I try to buy it ASAP and contact the owner that maybe he made a mistake and return it. There's a few more guys like me, lets hope one of them got it.

There are resellers who stand and reload the auction every 10 seconds looking for mistakes like this. One good thing in your favor is that we can all see who owns the ship. They won't be able to use it in space--ever--without being on everyone's KOS list. Let's get that privateer's number out there on all the forums so that the reseller can't unload it on someone else.

Where did you park it? Does the deed have to be claimed in order for the owner's name to appear on the ship?

Seriously a mistake like this. MA needs to implement a feature to prevent such things, like player can change options in-game. Automatically block all items with markup over 5000+ ped or TT worth 5000+. This way accidents such as this will never happen. Then you will only sell stuff worth that much when you really want too.

I hope the guy who got it has some moral, and will return it!

As much as I would personally like to own a privateer I would return it, and without a reward. It was clearly a mistake and anyone with any moral sense would be bound to return it. This is a game and there is such a thing as 'fair play' regardless whether there is real money involved or not.

I hope the person who bought it is honest....

We still don't have an item lock which could easily prevent this type of mistake

I don't understand the hubbub. What is a privateer worth?

Hangars originally sold upwards of 200k ped, the hangar owners got privateers, they are safe travel vessels for traders. They are now trading around 40k ped + or minus.

Oh man, i'll ask around in game see if i can track buyer down.

Hope gets sorted out and buyer is a good egg.

Holly crap man
I hope things will sort out for you...
I hope you know which was ur privateer, so you'll be able to track the new owner...
Either way it wont be easy...
Best wishes mate

We all make mistakes, we all remember what happened to to the "famous" Oreamp - 105 (ul) there was the rules also final.

So MA let him pay 1000 peds and give it back to him. :)

So MA let him pay 1000 peds and give it back to him. :)

The amp was sold to the trade terminal though, this was sold to another player, which kinda changes the condition of the trade.

Hope you get it back though mate

I notice some people say "i hope this buyer is honest" to me i seems that any purchase from the auction shouldn't equate to you having to be honest. You buy from the auction whats available whether its expensive or cheap.honesty has nothing to do with it.
The person who bought this does have every right to cheer and clap for the windfall he has purchased but deep down he/she would know that someone(op) has made a mistake and would be kicking themselves. This is where the "honorable"kicks in.
To knowingly keep an item you know has been sold via a mistake and to keep it for the windfall ATH you just got isn't honorable,
Giving it back with a refund(reward) is the honorable thing to do even though it will hurt like a poke in the eye.
Hope you get you ship back,i can imagine the gut wrenching feeling you must have had when you first found out your mistake:nutkick:

For something like this that seems to be a genuine mistake on behalf of the seller I think this is when MA should be willing to step in and help recover the item in question.

I hope you get the Privateer back asap...

I would agree with this in a case of player versus MindArk. I think it's a good thing that we have an out to TTing an expensive item by mistake. Unfortunately, it's waaaaay too complicated to implement something like this for player to player transaction. If you see an item on i.e. the auction, you have the option to buy the item if you want it. You should not have to worry about whether the transaction might be reversed, in which case you could risk allocating PED for no reason, that you might have wanted to use elsewhere while MindArk investigates the situation and all.

JIAN!

I feel absolutely horrible for you Jeffe and I hope that whoever got it does the honorable thing.

Yes i know but the rules was then to that is was final and we can see that what happend now is a big mistake.
I dont like MA to favorite some players like they did back there.

But MA favorite players more then they want os to know..Just ask them how many uberitems they gave to players by hand in the begining of this game.

I actually am surprised that MA has not put in appropriate failsafes after all these years. I can't see how it's not plain negligence, when you consider the amounts being transacted. Many players have equipment or deeds worth thousands of real life dollars, some tens of thousands. Deeds and all items that have a MU more than say +1000 ped must--at the very least--have a flag and confirmation window that force you to stop and say, yes, I want to auction/TT my valuable item. The best solution is to give each and every item a "lock/unlock" flag that prevents TTing, auctioning, trading, or dropping (but not moving between containers).

There should also be a mechanism in place to prevent accidental auction listings far below current MU (items and stackables). Just a special warning window would do (one that doesn't look like the same generic accept window). Same thing for bids far above current MU. It's possible to accidentally bid your entire ped card on an auction, and it does happen. I've talked to someone who lost 5k ped that way. You simply have to mis-click on one of the left-most digit arrows in the bid page of a no-buyout auction, then hit the confirmation window without reading it (like most of us do) and you've lost your entire ped card. Chances are, it's just a routine bid and you don't think to double check the amount.

Yes, all these problems can be avoided if you read and pay attention to every single word in every warning dialog. But when these windows pop up a hundred times a day, you simply don't read them carefully... and MindArk should know that and build in appropriate failsafes.
