Hello!

MA is busy setting up a online banner campaign. Where do you think Entropia Universe should be seen, and why? The vibrant Entropia community usually have a lot more varied point of views than we at MA, so I thought it would be a good idea asking you guys and gals about it. =)

www.mmorpg.com is the first to pop up in my mind. Very known website about mmorpg's.

its very cool of MA to ask us for feedback

well the obvious places are online gaming magazines, but i would also think MA would do pretty well targeting some of the gambling/poker sites. i know a lot of players who now play eu over thier old poker sessions

i guess you will want as good coverage as possible, so maybe some very well known sites that have a lot of hits, hmm the bbc site springs to mind, but i dont think they do any advertising, you know what i mean tho i hope

hmm i will have a better think after a couple more coffee's :)

Caution

Hmmm - Banner adds are hard sometimes as I personally have them blocked by admuncher as find it annoying when visiting a site to get bombarded with adverts. ( my personal opinion )

I better approach may be to contact London Underground and ask how much it is to place an advert on one of there carrages - 1000's of people would see that every day and having worked for an IT / Telecom company when we did this we had 20% more interest from the tube than we did the banner adverts.

Sites you may want to think of would be where your captive DEPOSITING audience is going to be ( filmw / leasure / holiday type sites ) - not one of these HAS BEEN sites ( ebay / pricerunner ) -

GOOGLE = NO NO NO you wont get your return on the clicks and ITS PAY PER CLICK AND THE ADDS SUCK .
.

Cant you stick an add through Reals' network and get entropia adverts up in need for speed or other games - That would be very classic ;P or on to other sites for gamers

Also why not look at Internet Service Providers and seeing if in there leasure sections if they can link through to EU - Just contact the webmasters and offer to do a custom page for them and they will normally link for FREE .

demon / bulldog / aol / pipex / orange / vodafone

Just my thoughts

DONT TELL THIS FORUM WHERE YOUR ADVERTISING AS THIS WILL KNOCK THE BUDJET BY 500,000 USERS VISITNG THE SITE ITS FOUND ON ;)

free installation DVDs on various magazines, not just geeky pc mags but accross the board

a many hour download is something I'm SURE puts some ppl off trying things. I've not tried many MMORPGs since I cannot be arsed downloading a massive client to try it out :)

google ad, as it can appear everywhere on websites that gamers browse

what about the massive ad system, that would enable you to advertise eu in other games, that could be very cool. as a existing customer of massive i would have thought you could negotiate a discount too

and sal has a great point about london underground, and any other commuter system, thats a very good way to get the name promoted and to get some brand awareness

heres a company that specialises in london underground advertising

maybe try and get EU on Nvidia`s game section site as free download. Banners might also work on ATi and/or Nvidia website. Gamespy and Yahoo video games section are also popular I think.

For Germany, put an add on www.heise.de
It is a well known to all IT professionals and people intresseded in more than the next "uber computer toy". They have also an online magazine with topics of science, philosophy, political questions and "nerd-stuff" (Telepolis, it has won several prices for its quality).
People reading it are older than those reading stuff like "Games". PE had once an article along with other MMPOGs in the paper-magazin C´t (its from heise). Be aware, maybe they gonna try the game and write a second article ;)

Kygon has a great idea.

My suggestion would be to hire some hacking group and make them CNN, youtube, google and other huge webplaces.
Simply overwrite the whole page with :"EU RULES!!! www.entropiauniverse.com"

as mentioned earlier maybe MA should try to use Aegis and the physX thing

i am sure thier site must have some links for "physX compatible games"
could be a cool place to start

what can i say, i am tight and dont like to spend the cash :) lol, so anything you can do with companies you already have a relationship with can only work out well, granted it might not give you the coverage you seek tho

Considering the target audience and the fact that EU is "more than a game", I would reach outside of the gaming scope and target audiences that are a bit adventurous and look outside the box.

Nerve.com comes to mind!

But where does EU gets the best results: The news! Rather than banner ads, I would spend my money on a good PR firm with a track record of getting news headlines for their clients. Saatchi & Saatchi is not cheap, but they are famous for the message across for unusual businesses.

I would also look into the real world. We need members with disposable income, thus people who work and commute. I like public transportation ads!

And we want members who are not afraid to spend their disposable income for fun. Night spot promotion? I bet Neverdie would have a long list just for Miami. LOL

Banner ads ... the more I think about it, it's just too traditional and boring for our audience. :D

Yes Compleatly Agree - Alot of people block them and the view / convert rate is poor -

look at Magazine / Newspaper free CD's with the client for Europe / Americas have some female interest ones as well to get the female gamer involved.

Look at Public Transport / busy places - ( Give away at train station ) Easy Internet Cafe's ( ISP GAME PAGES / FREE LINKS )

Competition to win a alienware laptop and 10,000 peds

Give people something for recomending a friend and when they hit X deposit person get X ped

Create an Energy Drink Or Vodka ! ! !

Sponser a Gay pride event

Advertise in the club / pub toilets around the UK ( male & female )

Advertise on CABS / TUBES / BUSES ( Colour a cab in Entropia universe ) have it wizzing around london ;P have a code word - enter this on website and your avatar gets tt armour and weapon + 100 rounds when you sign up

UKASH Terminal sponsership / poster for the shop that has these terminals advertising EU and get peds hear.

CD Giveaway from GAME - computer shop - WHSMITH news / cd/s games / VIRGIN MEGASTORE / HMV music shops

METRO - Free Morning Paper on Routes accross the UK

DELL / COMPAQ / HP / IBM - get the Pe client PRE installed and run a seporate competition for these users who bought there shiney new computer

90% of people go back to the same websites - try and do something MA like and out the box ;P

It aint 90's anymore :cheer:

Gaming is socially accepted activity and rising among business ppl, so I say
go for http://www.ft.com/companies/media to get wave of chip-up-ubers!

When does banner contest start?

Definitely the sites with strong online FPS gaming community around them.
www.esreality.com (i have been doing some spam there myself =)
www.ggl.com
www.gotfrag.com
www.sogamed.com
www.cyberfight.org
Not sure if you know this but recently, tons of Quake3/Unreal Tournament/Counter Strike clans fell apart due to the increasing popularity of W*W. If you can get the message that EU = Q3/UT/CS + W*W through, you will hit the 1 mil within a year. Best way of doing this would probably be talking one of the worlds biggest multigaming teams (see www.g7teams.com) into starting an EU division, however, this would require increased concentration on the competitive aspects of the game like providing areas dedicated to 1v1 fight (lol @ hexagons).

Have a bunch of mini cd's made for cheep with the installer program on them and hand them out at:

1.baseball games, football, cricket etc.. call it a Entropia day at the ball park.

2.better yet pass them out to bars and pubs as coasters

3.movie theaters hand them out with pop corn

4.bundle them with news papers.

5.get CNN or some big news organization to show up at MA and get some interviews

6. Night clubs, put the cds in peoples coat pokets at the claim counter.

7. thumb drives are getting very cheep these days. the other day i was given a 125 mb one advertizeing a college for free, the ad was impinted into the drive so you cant delete it but the rest of the drive is available for use.

Online Advertizeing is a dieing concept, didnt work well in the 90's and in the 06 most are ignored and just seen as anoying to many.

((personaly i hate online banner adds they take away from my bandwidth and time))

Affiliate marketing

how about using http://www.clixgalore.com/

It is a pay by results affiliate program, so that you can set up your own affiliate program and choose what to pay the affiliates. With a sufficiently grabbing text pitch for entropia, you could probably get the best possible exposure, and based only on results. this could be per click or a percentage of the deposits.

It works beacuse you dont spend a fortune up front and only pay based on results, using the entrepreneurail skills of webmasters worldwide.

Definately www.gamespot.com :)

And if MindArk wants to advertise for the Romanian public specificly (though I doubt it due to the measures taken in the recent past  ) here's the site to put banners on: www.computergames.ro

I seriously suggest that MindArk take a look at:

This is probably the most ridiculous comment I've read all week.

I suggest that you read the following article from the BBC News website dated October 2006:

Google sees profits almost double: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6067084.stm

BBC News said:
With advertising sales soaring, Google's revenues rose 70% from a year ago to $2.7bn.

Online Advertising has also meant that at the age of 25 I was able to become financially independent and resign from my graduate career, leaving plenty of time to log into Entropia whenever I like.

:D

www.slashdot.com

Probably one of the widest geek-style audience in the net.

They are currently advertising there <alternative-mmorpg-not-deleted-because-I-never-actually-typed-it> and these guys know what they're doing, their banners are quite impressive, IMO.

Cheers,
/jdegre.

I suggest adds on :

- video games websites. But i think this sorts of sites are browsed by teens mostly. So they barely aren't able to deposit.

- Stocks websites (like www.boursorama.com or www.boursier.com in France. Sorry i know only them for France, maybe someone can help for other countries). These sites are browsed by investors, should be good for EU economy ;)

- Gambling websites (poker, etc).

- Maybe some XXX websites lol :dunce:

Regards,
Ime.

Well www.myspace.com.... has about 55,000,000 users... and i actually saw a WoW advertizment up there....

but to get your ad there might take some big bucks... but if it was flashy u could definatly have some influence on 55million possible users...

actually last time i checked it was 55mil... now in my network of people is
"Your Network:
124,947,269"

so i guess u could get PE out to 125,000,000 people

but again you will be shelling out some serious doe... but its worth a shot if other gaming companies do it... PE should and it would help gain awareness like non other... a free video game you can make money in... the demographic alone (college kids) would all try it...
