Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months.
Oscar Wilde (1854 - 1900)

I'm sure I'll get some -Reps for this one but whatever it's funny :D, I'm not saying it's true about EU or anything...

“The tendency to whining and complaining may be taken as the surest sign symptom of little souls and inferior intellects.”

~Lord Jeffrey

That´s some really good quotes!

Here´s another one I like, from the same page ^^

"The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it."
- Oscar Wilde (1854-1900)

'The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn'
- Alvin Toffler

"Every now and then go away, even briefly, have a little relaxation, for when you come back to your work your judgment will be surer; since to remain constantly at work will cause you to lose power."
- Leonardo Da Vinci

"We are what we repeatedly do."
- Aristotle

"The final obstacle is the belief that there is an obstacle."
- Papaji

"The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results."

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

I think this fits many Entropians perfectly. :D
If your 20% runs aren't working for you, try something different! Yet they keep doing the same thing over and over and complain that it isn't working for them. :banghead:

“Everyone probably thinks that I'm a raving nymphomaniac, that I have an insatiable sexual appetite, when the truth is I'd rather read a book.” - Madonna

Well maybe not a good example but I like the quote :D

I spent my money on fast cars, fast women and beer. The rest i wasted!
- George Best

Not really EU related, but i spose it could be changed to...

I spent my money on fast guns, uber armour and ammo. The rest i wasted!
- Violet Neomir

:)

The greatest of faults, I should say, is to be conscious of none.

- Thomas Carlyle

hah more about MA then entropia.

- ; )

Dilbert - "If its not broken, fix it until it is"

I've also seen that one attributed to Einstein. It's good, in any case. However, it isn't as relevant in a "dynamic" universe as it is in one governed by the laws of physics. ;)

Walter Bagehot (1826-1877) said:
The greatest pleasure in life is doing what people say you cannot do.

John Steinbeck said:
Money does not change the sickness, only the symptoms.

And my favorite:
Johan Wolfgang von Goethe said:
The world is so empty if one thinks only of mountains, rivers and cities, but to know that there is someone who, though distant, thinks and feels with us -- this makes the earth for us an inhabited garden.

Franklin would have beaten him to it, would he not? :D

I thought someone might answer that with EU is 'dynamic'. Regardless of how things change day to day in EU, if what you are doing isn't working for you consistantly day in and day out....then you clearly should be trying something else. Or else its just playing the lottery, but thats a whole different subject. :silly2:

Which brings me to:

"Lottery: A tax for people who are bad at math." unknown
:silly2: I still play the lottery though, but ofc don't expect anything.

Found an interesting Swedish Proverb too:

"Luck never gives; it only lends"

Lootius giveth and Lootius taketh away!

Sadly, this applies to a number of people I've run across in EU:

"Education without values, as useful as it is, seems rather to make man a more clever devil." - CS Lewis

wow you guys really have done well. these are all great quotes. even the madonna one (way offtopic of entropia, but oh well)

Love to google for quotes :D although

Quotation, n: The act of repeating erroneously the words of another.
Ambrose Bierce (1842 - 1914), The Devil's Dictionary

Repetition of the same thought or physical action develops into a habit which, repeated frequently enough, becomes an automatic reflex.
Norman Vincent Peale

Being deeply learned and skilled, being well trained and using well spoken words; This is good luck
Buddha

Luck is the residue of design.
Branch Rickey

Aint that a true :D

To all hunters out there :D

A hungry dog hunts best

"We do what we have to do, So we can do want we want to do"

From the movie The Great Debaters (2007)

It's the economy, stupid
- Bill Clinton (on hunting)

Doh!
- Homer Simpson (on no loot)

My child, if sinners entice you,
turn your back on them!
They may say, “Come and join us.
Let’s hide and kill someone!
Just for fun, let’s ambush the innocent!
Let’s swallow them alive, like the grave;
let’s swallow them whole, like those who go down to the pit of death.
Think of the great things we’ll get!
We’ll fill our houses with all the stuff we take.
Come, throw in your lot with us;
we’ll all share the loot
- The Bible, Proverbs 1:10-14 (on PVP in lootable zones)

..and Confucius has a whole bunch of them, I bet he played Entropia:

- It is better to play than do nothing
(Confucius' suggestion as slogan for EU, which was sadly rejected by MA)

- No matter how busy you may think you are, you must find time for reading, or surrender yourself to self-chosen ignorance.
(use the ressources on EF, entropedia etc.)

- Ability will never catch up with the demand for it.
(Confucius is bitching about the high markup on skill chips)

- Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it.
(Confucius advices you not to whine so much every time there's a new VU)

- Study the past, if you would divine the future.
(simple advice to miners)

- Never give a sword to a man who can't dance.
(when taking on disciples, don't give them weapons before they learned the basics of the interface, as minimum the dancing emotes)

- If you shoot for the stars and hit the moon, it's OK. But you've got to shoot for something. A lot of people don't even shoot.
(I think Confucius dislikes melee weapons)

I can only attribute this to a young officer I worked with in the Marines, although I'm sure it came from someone else first: "You don't need to know how the clock works to tell the time."

In EU terms: the loot system, the skill system, etc... :D

More about the forum then about the "game " but i still love it

You sure its Swedish?
Don't think I've ever heard that one before :)
Anyone have the Swedish original?

Well if the internet says so... ;)

I guess there's countless old proverbs floating around out there... couldn't expect to know them all...
Have just a hard time piecing together what the original could have been exactly :)
The grammar doesn't really work in a straight translation I think...

This one seems to fit...

"Luck is a dividend of sweat.
The more you sweat, the luckier you get."
Ray Kroc

I like one from my favorite band:

"If you buy it, it can be bought
If you buy it, it can be stolen
If you can break it
It's already broken."
