Seeing jst how upset some people get during the game and on the game forums such as EF and ER, they need to realise...its just a game.

My sympathies go out to the guys family.

Imagine someone getting pissed at mindark :eek:

I mean, casino owners hide away on pacific islands where it would take you years to find them or atleast you would have cooled down before you found them.

But everyone knows mindark's address :eek:
 
Sometimes people take things way to personal on a forum. They also become way to hyper involved in VR.

Ahhhh well their are more instances of murder that happen everyday over things that seem dumber than a forum disagreement.

Yep. But what do you do when you get threatened by a person you happen to know has already 'visited' other players IRL? With friends and guns?
Is it time to take that serious?

I get quite serious when that happens.

Sorry, but ... I just can't get beyond this post. :laugh:

Ok, I'll respond ... it is something to be concerned about, and ... I can tell you that I have dealt with teens IRL who have had this type of challenge controlling their anger as a result of encounters in a virtual environment ... it's nothing to dismiss. Real life behavioral dynamics transfer into a virtual world quite easily, and it was just a matter of time before something like this happened. Although, I'm willing to bet that much more occurs with regard to virtual world encounters that anger people transferring into RL than is publicized.

Didn't MA end up doing some substantial renovations to their lobby area a couple of years back? IIRC, bullet-proof glass, etc were involved. Something about having to meet Swedish financial institution standards or the like.

Scary stuff indeed, but really not too surprizing. Had a steep learning curve myself about protecting rl identity and info in games/on forums etc, always knew the rules online anyway, they must be applied in games too cause there are crazy people in the world. Getting bs emails lately myself from a nutter in game, and taking no chances so has been reported to nip it in the bud hopefully.

It is a game folks, not worth anyone having any stress at all, let alone losing a life :(
 
dbelifante, I have read that other thread which you are alluding to. That guy is seriously deranged; whether the threat is real or not, he does appear to have some very serious anger management problems and the problem with VR is that it is too easy to spill over into RL.

We all have feelings and sometimes threads go to far. Some of us can control those - others can't. The danger is those who can't !
