Welcome to ARIS!

I very much liked the old way of traveling the planet. Doing a TP run, working together with others, sharing info. I do realize this is only at first, when all info is out and all Transportation Tunnels are discovered I probably take the easy way soon enough. Having said that most if not all of those tunnels are on the coast lines, so going onto the islands you need to drive or walk.

Although most of the mobs I came across are high level mobs I think this encourages players to work together. Team- and soc hunts are usually a lot of fun. And I was able to navigate a great part of the planet without getting stuck between mobs. And if you do get stuck, feel free to post in the rescue channel [#crt] and one of us will get you out of the situation.

Calypso Rescue Team has been doing *free rescue calls for 20 years on Calypso. But since the introduction of vehicles and TP Chips there are less rescue calls. ARIS might just give the amount of rescue calls a boost. And a CRT member will always help if available on the planet.

The only thing I didn't like was the amount of cloned mobs from Calypso. I hope those will be replaced by new mobs/designs soon. Also it would help to be able to filter the Codex on mobs which are on ARIS.

Edit: * checking amount of rescues

Is this hyperbole? Don't want to be a dick since you help people out but that amounts to over 140 rescue calls a day.

And a big Thank You! to everyone for the warm welcome, and all the well wishes! ❤️ And you will get to know us more over time, we are not done here 🙂

One thing that seems to be quite the divider is the lack of teleports and flying vehicles, but that is indeed intended. We believe we can create better content this way, and also bring back some of the old-school feeling where staying alive matters. It may not be for everyone, but I hope you will check it out anyway! It might not be as bad as it sounds 🙂

Another thing is the relatively high entry level, and that is not really what we intended. We want there to be something for everyone on ARIS, and so we are planning to add more lower level mobs in the near future.
Hey, and welcome as a PP!

I like that we can't fly or use tp-chip, that indeed require some planning sometimes and also that staying alive matters.
Maybe create a buffsystem that is based on how long we have been alive, or at least have some influence on it? ;)

Good luck with ARIS, and see you all around. :)

Run speed increase by 1% exponentially for every minute. Then we could run races around the islands and eventually everyone would be the flash 😅

But for real, a place like this should have some items with run speed buff and perhaps some more mechanical parts in loot. Having a bike blueprint or something in TT would probably make sense too.

Also I want a jet ski.

Hello Colonists!
Hello and welcome to Entropia!

After months of quiet development, it’s great to finally step out of the shadows and say Hello to you all!
Why the long silence during development? Was this a strategic decision to avoid early hype, or were there internal reasons? For a community-driven game like Entropia, a bit more openness would’ve gone a long way. (Unless your Neverdie)

our, we’re, our
Who exactly is “we”? The announcement uses “our” and “we” repeatedly, but doesn’t clarify who the team is. Could you introduce yourselves to the community properly?

Partnership with MindArk
Are you a new Planet Partner (PP)? If so, why is ARIS structured as a moon and not a full planet? And why is it so easily accessed from Calypso? Does this imply a different or more limited contract than other PPs?

ARIS introduces new content, mechanics, and challenges
The announcement claims new mechanics, haven't seen a new mechanic yet. Could you elaborate with specific examples?

Why waste resources on CryEngine, when the game is going to change to Unreal?
What’s your process for collecting, prioritizing, and acting on community input?
Currently, it feels quite similar to existing environments. Are there plans for distinct lore, economy, or systems? Some mobs are a copy/paste of current models with "barely" some tweaking.

As always, and as you might know, communication is key!! And this is one area where MindArk has consistently fallen short. Up until this thread, you’ve done a terrible job as well, and frankly, it makes no sense. If you want the community to get behind this project, that's the most important thing for you.

I hope you do a great job! The game needs a boost :) And gratz on the smooth launch!!!

Congrats on the launch!
Found myself stuck at work at the start of a 13h shift when i seen it launched and had to watch bloody twitch for the remainder of my shift, i was pondering the idea of what body part injury i could use as an excuse to get off site to get home and join the hype but in the end had to wait. Thanks for that misery.

On the positive i really enjoyed the slow travel and exploration that went with hunting missions and doing tp runs and avoiding certain giant ass robots so they didnt clap my cheeks.

Why do i get the feeling BIG industrys may be behind this partnership to some degree?

Lookin forward for more. Keep up the good work!

Is Calypso - 2.... enormous mobs for medium or noob people... minning is indoor??... see you in a faaaaaar future...

Médium to high player planet, there still few noobie mobs with 250 hp, mining its outdoor

They have to add more noob things to atract new player.

Would be nice if they redone the mobs to dont use actual reskins and adapt a little the hp or at least the ai daily. Because asking players to kill that many destroyers with that dps... and i was using 70 to 110dps. its like telling all that one its just for big people with big dps... was shooting them for 2hours and i didnt reach the 1/3 of the bar

I started quoting everything I wanted to respond to, but it became a mess. I'll do a summary instead 😁

Thank you all again for the warm welcomes and good lucks!

We are looking into lowering the bar on the entry level stuff to give more people a chance to check it out. So don't give up on us yet! However, not everyone is supposed to be able to kill everything either. There should be something for everyone, but not everyone can do everything.

It is nice to see many of you enjoying the lack of teleportation and flying vehicles, though, and it sounds like you are having much of the experience we were aiming for!

One new mechanic would be the system for the Daily Instances, where it is possible for us to create content that is balanced for people with all kinds of schedules. Playing one or two hours per day will let you have the same chance of success as people who play a lot more. Also, things like the Maintenance Tunnels were not possible before. There are a few other smaller ones as well, and while it may not be groundbreaking, it is still new 🙂

And regarding all the questions about owners and so on, we are a new company based in Sweden, and it was started up for this project spcifically. We've been around in the game for a long time, but we of course can't play for real now that we have too much insight into the inner workings. We are not related to BiG or Neverdie or any other groups. We have a background in game development, and we are just enthusiastic about being a part of this Universe and making our own little corner the best we can.

The structure of the partnership is a bit different compared to the other partners, where this setup is more light-weight. But yes, we are a Partner and we do have a Planet (which is a moon).

The long silence was because we did not want to set ourselves up for that kind of pressure, and the risk of breaking promises. Announcing something too early has a big chance of backfiring (I'm looking at you Bethesda), and releasing things as a surprise has a higher chance of becoming a positive experience (I'm looking at you Bethesda, again). If we had announced this when we made the deal, you would have been sorely disappointed with us around Christmas last year, and again in Q1 this year, for delaying the release.

We have no plans to set up a separate Discord for ARIS right now at least, but we will be around on the forum and try to be as active as we can. The best way for feedback right now would also be the forum.

I welcome you to the universe @John Archer | Hyperion - but honestly I am just a little sus about this whole new moon to be honest with you.

Firstly the post that Socrates posted was also very weird because they said in the title it was a planet but then mentioned further down in the post it is in fact a moon, which you also confirmed.

Secondly the assets and models are basically all from calypso as well. That is why this all just seems very sus. You are also refusing to answer basic questions and rather just deflecting and not actually giving any information out. This is just how MA work.

Lastly this makes me come to the conclusion that this planet is owned by MA and you was an ex employee or shareholder of Mindark. There is just to many red herrings in this whole new planet launch that just makes me and probably others sus about it.

And was this new moon created in UE5 or Cryengine 2?

Anyway welcome again who ever you are. "cough MA"

Same stuff, new(ish) face. Loud and clear.

Well this seems purposefully vague....

So you were previously around in game, but do not want to disclose who you are/were or exactly what your involvement in game was....

Fair enough, I can't come up with many reasons to hide in the dark but perhaps, were you a space pirate? Maybe not wanting it known you built this planet by stealing from us?

I really can't see many other reasons to not be upfront and open with your potential customers.... except some possible bad blood in the past.

@John Archer | Hyperion

I think you need to rethink or consider carefully revealing who you are because if you don't the speculation and the need to know will continue. It'll start from why someone wouldn't want to reveal themselves.

The perception will always be there can't be any positive reasons for hiding your real identity. So initially people will start thinking perhaps you were scammers, pirates, kidnappers etc in game i.e. all the negatives you can imagine.

Then people may start putting forward other theories e.g. perhaps you were formerly Virtuverse or perhaps you are actually MA masquerading as a player.

You get the idea it's unlikely to stop and eventually your identity will come to light anyway. So perhaps better to get it over and done with and save the long drawn out heartache...

My main suspicion lies in MA expanding activities into space and maybe other moons and stuff that don't need to pay out to CLDT-holders, or NTI, or Triton...
Lowering the density of the playerbase is no problem to MA for a while if their rake is so much higher by not having to share it!
Not being really open is also not an encouragement for the new planets that players will apparently be able to design soon. Maybe you are unaware of past goings-on, but your style and cirumstancial stuff suggests you might just be role-playing being a dev, with the real magician behind the curtain being MA.
We are likely to remain sceptical I think as things stand!
Edit: you say you've been around a long time, but not the longest possible. It's also not a good sign to be apparently blissfully ignorant, as opposed to merely unknowing due to being new...

Ya know, I think it's a requirement for working with or for Mindark to be purposefully vague and shady sounding. It's exactly how they do everything else.

Strange this is turning into a witch hunt, who cares who or what happened prior, hes a PP and your not. Check your privileges people its not that deep.
Totally agree, just focus in the planet... if you like it, what will be good to change, etc... who care who they are, stole your money? in every other planet or even space game took his part so its not different in ARIS... lol

looking forward to some more time on aris :)

And who cares? Nobody owes you identity, if you have issues go to MA, MA is the legally responsible entity, read the agreement.

Hey that's what that one mod on the forum said.

I personally don't like to give my money to people/companies with shady morals. Hence not supporting Arkadia for years with their nonsense they had going on. Same with Neverdie.

People have the right to know who or where there money is going.

Like if I got to choose being hunting on a planet where proceeds went to supporting cancer research versus a cocaine addicts pockets, guess which one I'm choosing?
And who cares? Nobody owes you identity, if you have issues go to MA, MA is the legally responsible entity, read the agreement.
We don't actually know what this agreement says. As clearly agreements and clauses have changed since at least the Nana hiring, being allowed to play on their personal account when that has not been a thing in the past.

Once again, people have the right to know who they are giving their money to.

Does Claypso born avatars playing on ARIS contribute to CLD payouts?

Its like entering a shop and demanding to know personal information of the owner so you can decide if you gonna purchase something in there or not.
Where i live youd be kicked out faster than you can blink. I guess its different in other places.

But you know the store name that you go into correct? You can google them or look up yelp reviews no? Are you purposefully being obtuse or was this a thing throughout school as well?

It must be, I can't think of a single place I shop at, that I don't know who owns it, most companies are public record and can be researched with a a quick Google search.
