Here's a quick and easy-to-read guide for all you hopefull new (and old) players who just want to make a fast fortune in EU

You make urself a nice Avatar. Preferably a female with a nice mysterious, yet neutrale name. Something easy to forget, maybe with a few numbers or capital letters in the middle of the name.

Rule #1:
Never EVER submit to any activity endorsed by MindArk, such as hunting, mining or crafting. Stay away from the Trade Terminal! It will kill your economy. Rather die, than put on some armor and decay your fortune away!

You sweat a little to get the first 50 ped working, then you troll endlessly around newbee-areas like PA, Argus and Troy to find naive Nubs who will let you upgrade their Pixie armor or buy some Ewe-16 handguns for tt+5 ped. It will take a couple of weeks and possibly cost you your seat in the study group at university. Never mind that - your fortune is growing steadily in EU.

Next step is to hit the auction, buying up all ore with no buyout set. Just dont ever bid more than 1% above official PE-Auction rates. As soon as you get the ore, you drop it back into auction with a nice 5% increase in buyout. Some crafting-sucker will surely buy, unless some of the other anonymous resellers will do it to push up the price further.

A few more weeks like this and you should now have a nice healthy fortune of at least 2000 peds.

Ready to go serious? Hit the shops!

Jump from shop to shop in a circular routine. Write down places of interest. Some shopowners are stupid enough to sell their stuff below auction value. Easy pray... those silly goofers never knew who hit them. Dont worry - they will not remember your name.

Are you so lucky to find a rare item set in a shop with price just above last known auction-price, dont hesitate! Buy it before some other reseller get to it. If its a unique or rare item, you can easily add 50% or even 100% to the price and set it to auction.

Now you can lean back and let the blood get fat in your veins. No worries - your life is secure and a business is growing. 3-4 months later you can withdraw your first 10k peds, with nothing to show other than your electricity bill and Internet connection. Oh yes, maybe a chalky spine and a few blue'ish bumps under your thighs. But who cares, you made it!

Example to follow:
Depiction of a good reseller who found a rare BP looted by some 'Solaris' and set to sale at a shop by this avatar, costing 1000 peds. The reseller quickly buy the BP and drops it in the public auction with a 60% increase in startbid. If lucky the reseller will even make more than 600 peds in one single sale. If unlucky it will take a few weeks to get a crafter to hit. The posibility of other resellers bidding up the price further on this nice BP is evident ;)

ehm... To get newbies to upgrade their armor is called scamming. not reselling

To get newbies to upgrade their armor to a better armor, and finalizing the deal, that is called armor upgrading ;)

PS: I am talking about the actual dealers that give you a discount for a better armor if you change your crappy current armor (not that you should, it is good for its purpose).

Why did I not read a post like this before I started PE, could have saved me alot of PED's

First rule about traders: A good trader will never share it secrets

second rule: never believe what other traders say on forum

third rule to rule number hundred: see first rule :D

And I wonder why I never succeeded in game :scratch2:?

Maybe it's my name :dunno: R3 SeXy R3seller ... is that annonymous enough? :D

Cya all in a few months when i hopefully can tell you ive made a withdraw of 10K peds

Or maybe i can't resist the smell of my smoking gun and shooting away my peddies.

But nice guide +rep

 Thank you for this great example you made a nice Info Thread to newbies who want to try their luck and did not want to quit during 1st hour of their EU-Life because of lack of visions how to get started :p

For sure, I never before tried to do Resell or something like this except the fact that I sold lotsa Plants and Flowers in my CND SHOP #45 before.

To let you all know, I sold this shop too...... after I had to learn that there are lotsa Resellers arround too who reselled my collected Plants with horrible markup and they had success.

So let me say I play EU since like 4 years now, had lotsa up and downs like everyone..... mostly losses :(

This time I only had Luck to find something nice...... and I took the chance to try it :)

I used to be miner and crafter myself, so who knows ...... maybe I should keep this great BP myself until Im skilled enough to use it efficient.

pls PM if interested.

Player ecs why zet stands in PA and screams all day long: BUYING ANIMAL HIDE 170%. He then does that until his say 100 ped of funds are all spent. He has now acquired 58.82 PED of Animal Hide.

At the end of the day, he uses his little refiner and spends a few pecs to refine that valueable material into Generic Leather. Usually there are Orders in the Auction for 200% on Generic Leather, but no matter, he can try for more, or let it slide for 190%. Considering the high TT of the stack, it is quite deisirable and a good buyout will get it sold.

He then places the resource for sale at a fixed price of 200%, final price 116 PED. Taxes should be around 3 ped, let's assume a max of 4 peds on all costs. This means that the next day (sooner or later), he will get 116-4 = 112 PED for the leather. Compared to the original funds of 100 ped, we got here a 12% profit rate.

Now, if that profit rate stands every day, we could have in theory a 1.12*1.12*1.12*1.12*1.12*1.12*1.12=2.21 funds increase over a week. That means a sure doubling of one's investment.

Plus sides: profit for the "trader", buyer gets more TT faster
Minus sides: buyer pays more, seller gets paid less

Whatever...
I still dont like resellers.

The 45 ped you paid on auctionfees to try this little stunt, could have been spent much better if you hid them in the dersert and made a nice little noob-treasure hunt. Lots of fun and good times for all.

...but what do I care.

Bah, is my guide already forgotten? :(

First off, you make that sound like a bad thing. I do the same thing, but my profit margin isn't as good as his. I buy at 175% and sell for 185%. (hhmm, no wonder I can never make enough to fund my hunting/mining )

Would you prefer all those beginning poor players to put their 5 or 13 pieces of hide on the auction, and sell it for 1PED? So from 13PEC to 1PED, that's an incredible markup. (Over 700%! ) By the time tailors waste time to buy enough hides on auction to make their runs, clothes will cost 10X what they do now. (again:  )

Lemmee guess: Every hunter should just keep their loot until they have enough of something to sell at a decent price. That works only when you have enough to keep going without selling anything. This is a feat many players, especially the new ones, can't do. I know when I started this game, I couldn't wait to sell my few pieces of hides, etc. so I could buy another 100 ammo for my Opalo and give those Exo and Combibos the what for.

As I was recently reminded, there's a huge difference between someone who:

  • buys something just to immediately sell it for huge profit
  • buys something, uses it, then sells it to another person so they can use it
  • buy up enough of one thing that they can sell it at a decent profit without pricing it too high

The last two are good for the economy. The first one isn't.

EDIT:
ontopic: Solaris, ROFL, mate. That was great.

Thats why traders are service providers and the cornerstone of the Entropian Economy :D

Does anyone have something for me they would like me to resell? PM me :D

Joking , please dont PM me.. :scratch2:

Or keep your PEDs in EU for a while longer and convince a mall owner that you are in fact a respectable crafter/hunter/miner/honest trader serious about running a shop that will make their mall look good.

Fill the shop with some overpriced tat and pretend it's a rares shop so that it will help you to continue your dastardly business, or do nothing with it for a few months and then put it up for sale at 200%+ markup. Either way, you made it!

Totally agree, however your purpose is one of slight, easy, affordable turnover used for your pleasureable activities funds, thus you do not achieve such high profits. Also, a complete reinvestment of that income has to be done for the turnover to increase in time.

This is the economy we have to deal with, and I have two principles that apply to EU:
  • Every time you do something against the bare system (eg. hunting), you become better at it, the more you do it.
  • Every time you do something against the playerbase (selling/buying/reselling/eventing), you get worse results the more you do it.

In my opinion resellers do good job and that is why:

If resseler makes a deal with seller of item, it means seller is satisfied with price, and he saves a lot of time, he gets money instanly.

And when resseler makes a deal with buyer at higher price, the same rules aplly for buyer (satisfaction, gets item instantly)

So, why resseling is bad, if everybody is happy? And dont say please, that better would be, if seller and buyer meet each other - in most cases they will need quite more time to finde each other, and it's up to you all to sell it to resseler or to spend time searching buyer.

BTW, isn't every shop in RL is kind a resseler? :scratch2:

Completely right ! and this is called "Arbitrage" ... banks have been doing for ages between each global markets ... and they make good money out of it, without having that much bad feelings about it.

Time is money, resellers spend time doing it, this is the price of their service, they help making transactions in Entropia faster and everybody wirking of what matterns to him and not laming around shouting that he/she would like to sell "please oh god buy my stuff so I can go back to play" ...

This is as simple as that ... trust me, I work in a bank ! ;)

a little more on topic....

perhaps a short list of trading rules from another universe can guide a new reseller.

1. Once you have their money, you never give it back.
2. The best deal is the one that brings the most profit.
3. Never spend more for an acquisition than you have to.
7. Keep your ears open.
8. Small print leads to large risk.
9. Opportunity plus instinct equals profit.
12. Anything worth selling is worth selling twice.
16. A deal is a deal.
19. Satisfaction is not guaranteed.
44. Never confuse wisdom with luck.
98. Every man has his price.
106. There is no honor in poverty.
194. It's always good business to know about your customers before they walk in your door.
202. The justification of profit is profit.
214. Never begin a business negotiation on an empty stomach.
