 In the end I suspected such an empty answer from MA...but to get it black on white is funny though...

Dear Support Team,

I want to make an investment in Entropia into estates. I've announced that in TI-City in the Bronze Building, floor twenty, apartment A, B, D, E, F, G, and H are posssed by you. I'd like to buy them as a bulk for a fixed price. However I'm thinking about something of a price between xxxx PED and xxxx PED. Is there even a possibility? What were your pricely suggestions?
Regards.

Hi,
All available estates, such as houses, castles, apartments or sheds, will be sold In-World, either through PvP trade or via the auction system. If you cannot locate a specific estate anywhere at the auction, it is most likely owned (but yet not claimed) by another participant.

Kind regards,
Entropia Support

Hi,
these apartments are owned, but not claimed, by Marcus Callender The Estate Broker, who is well known an MA avatar! Anyway.
Will there be apartments being sold by YOU (MA) in auction again? Like it was a year ago?
Thanks even!

Hello,
We cannot offer information about future selling of estates. We can only repeat the information from the previous reply.

Kind regards,

Actually i think those are infact owned by others then MA and not claimed yet i think they are owned by a RL house investment compagny that also bought the last hundred or so appartments off the auction ??

I might be wrong but i remember that something like this happend

If the apartements are owned by "Marcus" atm, and arent in auction with him (MA) as seller, it simply means an avatar bought one (or all of them) but never went there and claimed them (Most likely a trader/reseller/realtor). So since MA doesnt own them its kinda hard for them to sell them to you ;)
And Marcus isnt an "MA avatar", he is MA when it comes to selling anything officially ingame.

I might be wrong but i remember that something like this happend

All the apartements were in auction once, all didnt sell, MA relisted the ones that didnt, then after a while one/several avatars cleaned the auction totally of apartements. So yes every apartement ingame has an owner atm that isnt MA, claimed or not.

I didnt know that!

Thx for the nice replies!

the last were all purchased within days. when asked MA would only say they were purchased by avatars. they own no more apartments, nor are they willing to state they will release more. i have my suspision that ashne (or assosciates) bought them all up since they all vanished very shortly after she arrived and began gathering peds for her IPO ripoff.

this may sound a bit newbish but what is IPO?

Of what Use?

Aside from sucking up PED, I don't see any real use for Apartments. It's not as if our Avatars suffer any adverse effects from the environment - so "sleeping" on the beach is no different that sleeping in an apartment.

Yes, you can decorate them with virtual stuff - and even lock the door so no one else but you can gloat at your collections of things...

Umm.. yay?

Unless there's some really spiffy reason for having one that I don't know about, to me they seem sort of like a waste of money.

I have two apartments, one I use for additional storage space, the second I use for my beauty salon. You cannot use a hair stylist chair without an estate to safely put it in. ;)

Ok, that's fair enough - they do have some function beyond simply somewhere to dump stuff. I use storage boxes to dump my stuff in, and if I'm looking to create the illusion of crawling in somewhere to sleep while I log out - there are plenty of unused places - little corner "closets" scattered throughout most cities - though my personal favorite is the biodome in PA.

They also have a function if you have a tp chip that can tp home. You need to have a home to be able to tp to afaik.

Don't you need to be an estate owner to use the ad system, too? Or did I imagine that?

But, mostly for storage and to better visualize things. Some people use them as shops, too.

or... you can use the stuff to build up a museum and invite everyone to visit it :)

Like I'm doing with my collection of different leathers :)

I'm up to 29 (I think) different ones atm. I find it's nice to be able to look at them full size and it helps to visualise what different textures will look like when combined

hmm...

if there really was a mass buyout of houses, and an IPO that may not have been a ripoff.. is it possible to buy in to that IPO now... who owns all those places that still show Marcus Callander as the owner in terminals?

whoever hasn't claimed them yet.

1. Additional storage for something like 100 additional item without having to buy more storage boxes. You will end up buying storage boxes anyway, but generally speaking you can easier dump something in storage box in apt far far away and forget about it. For me it's kind of useful... (or rather was, as I'm homeless atm)
2. Possibility to use advertisement system. If you do not have a shop or something like this it's not very usefull, but always you can send someone "Happy Birthday" postcard :)
3. Possibility to put in your apartment various "terminals" available, like shopkeeper (allows you to have a shop inside your apt, not the best option, but pretty cheap one).
4. Possibility to TP home... Don't have TP chip big enough anyway, but I think it can be usefull feature.
5. Possibility to put your items on display panels. Just to feed your eyes with them or prevent MA from messing with your things in storage every VU.
6. Endless other possibilities limited only by your imagination.

Apartments are usefull. Shame that their supply is so short.
Well... Looks like I will have to get apt again.

Your avi is wearing clothes. What's their use? What was wrong with the OJ's you arrived on Calypso in?

I seriously doubt thats the case. Ive seen a LOT of flats that have had Marcus as owner ever since June when i had an UBER and was thinking of buying one. There was flats and even shops, bots ALL over the game and still are (same estates) as in June STILL owned by Marcus. I cant see that some eventual buyer wouldnt have claimed them for that long. Recently ive seen both LAs and estates thats "Owned" By Emma the Guide and Simon. I also wrote MA a support case that i was intrested in buyin a flat in Sakura or Omegaton west. and mentoned a few of them that was "Owned" by Marcus. Took me well over a month to get an answer from MA saying this appartments are CURRENTLY not for sale :( NOTHING more just that line. And as MA was in a BIG hurry to take every pec back of my 2 UBER drops last summer i gave up my ideas of buying one.

I did actually ask someone at MA what was going to happen to the appartments and stuff that was still owned by Marcus Calendar and their response was, you will have to wait and see. They didnt say anything that led me to beleive that they were owned by anyone else other than MA and no I will not say who said this.

If these apartments are owned by someone who previously bought in bulk, creating the illusion of them still being MA owned and not yet released to the playerbase (by not claiming them) it only increases there value....

I Don't think its in MA's interest to hold assets that could otherwise be making them ped....

But just my two pecs :)

Why not :scratch2: prices off appartments more then doubled since Ma toke them off Auction so :D

Exactly, how many people do you think Depo to buy an apartment, and MA would much rather have apartments bringin them in rent every month,

Think of it as supply and demand,

Create a Demand, then give the supply.... the supply source gets flooded... recreate the demand by cutting the supply (this is from the view of the bulk buyer by creating the illusion that these apartments aren't available to the playerbase)

also... I wonder what the average avatar spends on their apartment too... people forget that the average player in Entropia deposits to play, and if you want an apartment and items for said apartment... whats the easiest way to get it ?

It doesn't matter if those peds you invest are then shared among other players through markup, because where is your hard cash at ? Not in your bank account accrueing interest thats for sure :)

Just a point of view, all my posts come with the, ' I'm just chattin, I don't beleive I know everything... ' disclaimer lmao...

I doubt MA gets much cash from rent since most people let theirs expire. They could be holding them for event prizes maybe or some kind of promotion.

This is also a good explanation :) could also say that about the remaining land that exists on Amethera :)

Once estates become available on the new planets and the real estate market crashes MA will give the remainder of the apartments to current players for their herois effots to make Calypso what it is now. Wishful thinking hmm?

You can also put shopkeepers in aparts, and run a shop from it.

Other than that, and hair-styling/body-sculpting, yes aparts are really useless.

I have one myself, and no, I will not sell it. And No, I do not use it for the above.
