Am I getting scammed for 200K? Help please!

Just wondering????

Why is this post still "active". The message is simple, the idea is simple, the answer from support, (what support, LOL) should have ended this, but it's still here...funny, not really...just got to show what threads are closed fast and which are not..


EXAMPLE:

any thread about a unlimited amp being tt'ed by 'accident' and threads about a 'fund' to help out ubers that tt'ed stuff by 'accident"....

now i understand that your not the brightest spark in the universe, but even you brooklyn must understand that asking a question "am i being scammed" is not the same as spreading rumors and false information. i think you should also understand that assuming the OP just told the story as it happened, this is not false or inacurate information, just information that MA would rather not be public knowledge, the information regarding their bugs/mistakes and poor solutions for dealing with these problems.

and IF MA had the guts to ban the OP over a thread like this, im pretty sure that any competent judge would laugh MA out of court over a EULA that contains phrases like

fyi, you brooklyn are constantly in breach of the EULA when you post your fawning fanboy nonsense on this forum, because most of what you post is inacurate and or a rumor, often something that is nothing more than a product of your fevered imagination? :p

What happening to the bank at Argus

I checked out the bank at Argus yesterday and found that it is paid up BUT there was no teller ? so is kitty is still out of buisness ? are there still issues we know nothing about ?

its all very odd , an open bank but no teller makes no scence

i would have thought you could answer this, since such information would be in the public domain and not subject to client confidence (unless maybe it is a legal opinion). no matter, open it up to the wider Swedish population: any armchair, student or practicing lawyers that can verify this? does "deposit" mean money given to Mindark remain ours in law?

I can think of two parallels: betting accounts and christmas clubs*. the former i have no idea of the actual legal position of deposits, technically (in the UK) a bookmakers is not obliged to pay you winnings so funds on account might be a moot point. in the latter, experience/common knowledge of recent events tells us that while techincally the money might belong to the depositer in lieu of a Christmas Hamper*, if there is a problem the depositer doesn't have a legal leg to stand on, at the back of the queue to larger debtors.

on the other hand, MA accounts formally books deposits as sales and cites user holdings, contingent liabilities, as a rather round number suggesting it is not a precise function of deposits - (withdrawals + decay). This suggests terms such as "sales" and "deposits" are semantics with no legally binding difference.

(i know this might be offtopic a little, but the topic has been resolved and its an important concept to resolve, our rights to funds deposited).


* sure this isnt just a uk thing, but in case it is, many pay in to a fund weekly/monthly through the year and recieve a "hamper" in December with, turkey, hams, puddings, treats and such for christmas day feast.

Nobody can give a court proven answer to your question, because this topic hasn't been brought about in front of court yet. MA left the territory of charted law with EU in many ways. But it certainly isn't as simple and straight forward as MA makes us to believe. They don't know for themself if what they are doing is compatible with current law. This is one main reason, why they stay mostly quiet.

But as lavawalker said your $$ are not spend when buying PEDs, they are exchanged. When it comes to the $ to PED transfer MA pretty much does the same what casinos do. PEDs are the equivalent of the chips you buy at casinos. Allthough the chips (the phyiscal entity) are still property of the casino, the attached value/money is still yours and the casino is obliged to change them back.

In RL analogy buying items would be like buying stamps or collectors coins. They have a fixed value, but due to rarity and demand the price people pay for them is way higher.

Conclusion: The PEDs are still yours and MA just can't lock you and take the PEDs. That's why the old locked accounts are still around. And because MA couldn't solve this problem in a few years, and has forgotten to lock the accounts in VU10 joalanas bank account got locked and this thread started...

Using the word scammed even in the question "Am I being scammed" in a situation where it is known that is not the case... and using it as a lead in to a story in which her money or her bank was never threatened... her use of the word scammed was a deliberate choice and sad and silly attempt at presenting the false and inaccurate information misrepresenting MA's actions, in freezing her avatar account for the purpose of an investigation, as a deliberate attempt to defraud of the 200,000 investment of her group... The headline, if she was serious and seeking an honest response in stead of provoking a whole disuccusion of rumorist specualtion by you and others that MA's actions are somehow dishonest, should have read, "I need help in contacting MA and getting information"...

Just to remind you and all the other arm chair jurists legal eagles posting here... It is "Lawyers", specifically corporate contract lawyers specailizing in EULA and TOA's, who know the current law, its precidents, and current legal apllications... and also have a pretty good idea of what they can defend and make solid legal arguments in support of, based on them in front of a competent judge, that write and review and constantly revise the EULA'a and TOA that we agree to... an you don't need to be the brightest spark in the universe to understand that... or it's implications in a court of law...

Imho, complaining that MA are locking scammers or temporary locking during an investigation is like barking at the bus driver when he follows the time table rather than driving you shortest way back home.

It probably has happened people has challenged a bus time table and taken lawyers to court over one, but, I mean... come on. If you board a bus and it takes a one hour meal break halfways and it's in the time table but you chosed to ignore it, it's pretty much your own fault.

Unless, of course, you want a freeway for scammers and people who want a way to launder money they can squeeze out from stolen CCs.

But scamming is a also good reason why to lock all involved accounts and investigate those deals. And it have bean maybe a good warning for scammers who have read this tread :D

But it should be MA first priority to explane it to players who make great deposits and who are not scammers cos those ppl feed MA budget. So seems that MA should send its customer service ppl to some training I think cos its a great misunderstanding what seems to happend here.

Im my account should be terminated due amy investigation and I will be explaned correctly I think i shoul be mad at all due the need of that scamming should be prohibited and should be punished...
