Ready, Steady, Go!

Hope to get one, but....

Silly me at work earning money to play this game...

Maybe there will some left when I get off and finally log-in.

:lolup::lolup::lolup:

Honestly... no  But I admit I will be watching to see how this all goes down.

As long as there's some viable functionality, I'll use them. But we do already have TPs...

Let's hope this isn't another fark-up.

Oh, btw... Marco, everything I've been saying about hoping this isn't a cock-up and everything, completely not directed to you or FPC. I'm talking about MindArk. You seem like you're picking things up, it's MA I'm worried about.

<<< hopes McCormick makes a funny drunk driving video

I wonder if there will be a remote collection feature. What happens if you leave your vehicle in a PvP zone or around tough mobs and die?

I guess vehicles will not be stackable ... so don't care ... you can run back and pick it up again

omg you folks are so kinky ... I can't believe!

I can visualize future dialog from the tp interface

-You are attempting to trans locate/teleport from Cape Corinth to Fort Argus..... are you willing to accept the fee of 10 ped for this service?-

:monkey:

LOL I'm kinky?? What I really meant was the fact that if you leave a vehicle in a PvP zone, people may just sit there and kill you not allowing you to pick it up.

That's when we become an hero.

What I meant was it's not really worth to talk about. All this "missions" and "vehicles" are unbelievably bullshit (Baby-Kacke) until the lasting problems are solved.

I totally agree. I guess we can't stop it now and it makes sense to know about what's going to be happening. But I completely agree that we need to get our old systems back before new ones.

Get your damn tribal back! :D

Not likely as it seems vehicles are faster than the mobs, so no armor decay.... or well can you actually drive and shoot at once?

During test we had a scene where a car was speeding to get away from an Atrox Stalker - it was very much like the scene from the movie Jurrasic Park when the T-Rex pursues the jeep. =) So most cars can outrun most mobs.

Vehicle combat is geared towards PvP and mounted weapons cannot be used to hunt mobs.

VEHICULAR COMBAT!!! There's something I'll be looking forward to in all this vehicle stuff.

It'll add a lot of depth for PvP. Any word on whether or not explosives will affect the driving physics of a car? Like if I shoot a rocket in front of a car in PvP, will it be sent flying end over end? :D

So.. my "Rat Patrol" youtube clip in a conversation about Calypso vehicles wasn't too far off the mark! :)

Could this be video from landgrab 2011??

Hmm ... it was a Mercedes not a Jeep ...

...although vehicle vs mob combat system would have been fun also. Might get GDW pissed if you hunted the larger reptilian mobs in a particular brand of Detroit luxury iron... wait... GDW is long gone since TSR sued 'em. Come on Marco, give us Cadillacs and Dinosaurs!!!!

You know that's not how it plays out in RL, right? :)

Because there is so much speculation about the nature and functionality of the upcoming vehicles, we have already been told the following:

Another new system MindArk has shown FPC is one of the most anticipated systems ever (I think it was first mentioned back in 2005!) – The Vehicles system. We have had the opportunity to race through the Calypso underbrush at 60 km/h, jumping off cliffs and skidding into lakes. I personally believe the vehicle system is a great addition on many levels, from the actual experience of driving around, using it as tool for day to day activities but also from a business standpoint; who will become the Henry Ford of Calypso? Vehicles are expected to arrive during the spring.

You might draw some conclusions from that.

During the preview bank raids it could furthermore be seen that the vehicles were equipped to the avas like tools and seemed to function like tools. I can’t quite imagine that there would’ve been a conceptual change since then.

So you might expect that vehicles can be put away in the personal inventory and the storage. That you can leave a vehicle behind by "dropping" it, which would allow any other ava to "pick up" the vehicle and become the new owner. And that you can travel with your vehicles between continents, planets and space stations by just having them in your inventory while using TPs. (I don’t know about entering buildings and canisters with a vehicle equipped, however.)

"Driving" would in fact be running with a vehicle equipped (with increased speed).

"Having passengers" would be something like the "follow ava" action.

The preview vehicles were fully permeable, btw, so there wouldn’t be any running-overs, and mobs and PKers can attack you in every way as usual.

What I really wonder, though, is how MA is to get the thousands of mobs off the streets. I guess, they won’t... :scratch2:

Who cares about ... it'll be another exploit, that's for sure. Good luck folks with your vehicles :D

Hmm ... it was a Mercedes not a Jeep ...

He said jeep not Jeep with capital J. :)

here are many explanations of the origin of the word "jeep," all of which have proven difficult to verify. One notion holds that the vehicle bore the designation "GP" (for "Government Purposes" or "General Purpose"), which was phonetically slurred into the word jeep. However, R. Lee Ermey, on his television series Mail Call, disputes this, saying that the vehicle was designed for specific duties, and was never referred to as "General Purpose" and it is highly unlikely that the average jeep-driving GI would have been familiar with this designation. The Ford GPW abbreviation actually meant (G for government use, P to designate its 80-inch (2,000 mm) wheelbase and W to indicate its Willys-Overland designed engine).
Many, including Ermey, suggest that soldiers at the time were so impressed with the new vehicles that they informally named it after Eugene the Jeep, a character in the Popeye cartoons created by E. C. Segar. Eugene the Jeep was Popeye's "jungle pet" and was "small, able to move between dimensions and could solve seemingly impossible problems."[1]
Words of the Fighting Forces by Clinton A. Sanders, a dictionary of military slang, published in 1942, in the library at The Pentagon gives this definition:
Jeep: A four-wheel drive vehicle of one-half- to one-and-one-half-ton capacity for reconnaissance or other army duty. A term applied to the bantam-cars, and occasionally to other motor vehicles (U.S.A.) in the Air Corps, the Link Trainer; in the armored forces, the ½-ton command vehicle. Also referred to as "any small plane, helicopter, or gadget."
This definition is supported by the use of the term "jeep carrier" to refer to the Navy's small escort carriers.

Yo ... that's what I've learned: You guys don't care about speaking in a correct way. Unfortunately English is not my first language ... so you can inculpate me for many errors here at EF.

But I am a fan of Mercedes cars. And if anyone says "jeep" or "Jeep" I understand "Jeep" and not "Mercedes". And I hate it! Say "Mercedes" when you speak about a Mercedes. Don't say "jeep" or "Jeep"!

How could anyone possibly mean "Mercedes" when they say "jeep"?

Lets face it, if it were out of European working hours none of the servers would survive the onslaught of login attempts. The fact they've announced it on a Friday at the end of the working day for an event on Monday shows they're trying to reduce the number of people attending as much as possible and its not the first time this approach has been used.

The only way to guarantee that only people from each time zone could get one is they lock everyone from other timezones out which isn't going to happen.

The last event run on a Saturday (suitable for almost everyone) crashed the server Wastelanders take over ti

Well, for one thing they could split up the inventory of vehicles into 24 parts and give out 1/24th of the total every hour. Seems that this would pretty much give people form all timezones a chance. See it's not so hard.

Actually "jeep" as he spelled it is a common noun, not the name of a brand.

jeep (jp)

Well thats made the lootable pvp areas a lot more dangerous  seeing a green dot on radar its not long range weaponry we've got to worry about now we've little or no chance to get away as they'll be able to close the gap faster than ever to use the vehicle weaponry. Or are the weapons only good against other vehicles?

AOA mob trains in PA anyone :D you tell people that hide under the ground at the rig they're using an exploit to clear it with mob trains and then you give them a perfect toy to do it with instead  no where will be safe.
