I started with a small $10 depo, next few months it was $20 then steadily built up to $100/month. I had a time where I didn't depo for months and just used opalo+a101 to grind small mobs. But slow skillgains eventually made me depo and step up my hunting. I have now finally reached a point where I hunt daily and make a small profit, and I have the hunting logs to prove it;)

I still depo anything from $50-$150 a month but that is just to support things like buying better gear, buying investments, skill chips etc. Hunting sustains itself and I am pretty confident that if i want to stay on this level I could prob stop depositing totally:cool:

 but in that lies the problem I constantly want to challenge myself... hunt bigger mobs, use a bigger gun, get better gear.... and for that there is only one answer and that is to depo

This is exactly my idea how should be this game running. Being able to play, being able to advance and deposit only as a investment in gear, items or for occasional opportunities as Wof etc..

back to topic
i deposited after 2 months of sweating and have deposit around 2k usd in first year.
But then my loots went badly down, so I stopped it.
Now im depositing only here and there, just to be able to play and waiting until better period arrives again.

Dont have to say much you all know.:)

Deposit to have fun, end of story :)

If something big drops one day then it is a pleasant surprise, end of story :)

Your kidding yourself if your here for something else without many 10s of thousands of USD to invest, end of story :)

Welcome to EU and enjoy the game.

That's all folks :yay:

I am also one of those crazy depositors for entertainment,
1k+ USD a month when I do deposit, but never beyond my means ;)

0 stress & too many emoticons in this post, end of story lol

I did my share of deposits about 3 yrs bk, but have been non depo since then, minus an xmas gift to myself 1.5 yrs ago of about 200 ped i think. i started non depositor as well, first 6 months or so... Teaches u the value of a pec, hammers the point home really lol. Grinding and good friends with nice gear got me to where i am, trying not to chase aths but instead aiming for smaller uber hofs on mobs that are very eco for me to hunt. Ofc there's the boring grind for gazz/iron which is a bit safer but for me not as exciting :) Killspeed combined with uber eco and the right mob eventually yields me a hof... Mind u, i kill thousands of mobs per day tho, any of which can uber for 10k plus, doing this eco so as not to just be chasing glory and fame. Also picking mobs with high m/u drops if i can do them with good eco, meaning not spending 30 ped armor decay for every 200 ped ammo spent.

Depo or non depo, it's just a matter of the pace u play at, same rules apply to both, i do in fact intend on depositing for gear again soon. Thinking angel would look sexy on me one day lol.

You missed an option on the poll:
Do you deposit irregularly?

I deposit when I need something, like a new gun or melee weapon, and I do not have enough PED on my PED card. This can be one every three or four month perhaps, depending on how my loot goes. Then I may deposit, say, $30. SO I would guess on average it works out at around $10 per month. I prefer to do it this way rather than put in $10 per mointh as then it would just disappear on ammo and I would never have enough to be able to afford a decent weapon.

I normally manage to break even but i still depo to buy gear skills or hunt big.

I am used to deposit when I need some PED.
For some months now I try to sold some skills and stuff to not déposit but it's harder and harder I think I am addict :)

i think we would all be surprised by the number of non depositors playing the game... and this is why i think you need to take player longevity into account as well.. as i would think the virtual lifespan for non depositors is much lower then depositors as its harder to play off of ingame income. more worktime making peds then funtime spending them ...

been playing almost 4 yrs now myself.. didnt deposit for the first month then have been depositing a couple times a month otherwise, accept for a 6 month period i spent trading to make up some of my losses, and a 8 month period more recently where i lived of a 6k hof. otherwise i average $40 up to sometimes $150 a month.

i have had mixed fealings on that subject tho, im either all for it or all against. i know of many very hard working dedicated non depositors that went through thousands of hours of slave labour sweating and trading for fractions of a cent.and then they get a hof ...they deserved it because imo people depositing isnt the only thing that keeps the game going but the amount of people buying and selling shit keeping demand and supply up.... the more people trading and such is a good thing whether they have put their rl money in or not ... they have worked hard in most cases for the little they do have, and can appreciate it more then us depositors that carelessly burn through hundreds of ped an hour grinding..

and then u have the non depositors that scam people anyway they can just to make a few fractions of a cent ... whether its just way over pricing items their selling or way underpricing items they want all the way up to trust scam's and kill stealing to save a couple ammo shots....

that effort could be better spent elsewhere so if they are getting rich off the bs or better yet MA gives them a uber hof for screwing the community with great dedication then yea that pisses me off :)

alright im done... sorry just smoked a fat J... i tend to ramble when im stoned..

What Thad says:D

I've got a really odd income stream irl and work life too so I can't afford to deposit really (I'd just have to withdraw it a couple of months later) So I started about two years ago and sweated my first 100peds or so and then went into ME trading to make some more money. As my ped card got bigger I branched out into trading a few different things.

On average over a year I only play about an hour or two per day so I've not got a huge ped card, maybe 3k peds (with items and gear as well), but I don't like to rip people off or anything so don't make as much as a trader could. I also offer things cheaper to my soc mates and use at least 10% of my trading profits to go fap new players at swamp camp, nea's, or currently on Rocktropia. This has led me to get some fap jobs as my highest skills are first aid and anatomy.

With about another third of profits I go have fun like hunting or buying clothes etc. So my ped worth only really reflects about 60% of what I've earnt trading.

Here is a gd role-model for us to follow :) I think I'am following in your foot-steps without realising it hehe but well done for your commitment, and for not blowing your salary on here that too is important. I actually plan to live off $37 a month just from ME trading :) obviously this will be in arears for the 1st month :) but then it shud be smooth sailing wish me luck.

withdrawn more than i deposited and still have all my skills and a very few peds left....kinda want to not deposit unless i get a real job or someway to support myself in rl,then i would deposit only to have fun ...i love the game and want to have fun without feeling burdened to make money and stress on the economy..

I am one of those heave depositors, how much? Im not realy sure, its different month to month, but more than anyone in this thread (maby not SunnyS :) )

This changed at end of december when real life changed, so i adapted and sold some stuff, and havent depoed since then.

I still play about 6 hours a day though (play, as in hunting semi large mobs)

I have no hard feelings towards anyone just based on if they deposit or not, or how they play the "game".
We all have different goals in EU, and as long as someone does not try to scam or steal I realy dont care how they play.

(buy my loot please :D )

Hello all,

Well this is for my own curiosity. I was asking myself about how many people that plays EU have deposited at least once? or regulary? or never?

And of course..i want to know what people that regulary makes some deposits think about the non-depositor. Because we (all) know that the loot pool is made from the depositor.. So what if a non-depositor get rich? So some point of view about the "other" people should be interesting for me. I know lots of people from both categories but have no idea on how much people in average are in each categories...

For sure i know people that deposit regulary and lose all their PED and people that never deposit that can have fun and get some income...

Thx for your answer and comments

I don't think that asking here will get you a fair reflection of the playerbase. Similarly asking the same question to the residents of the swamp camp would also not get you a fair answer.

I voted the depo, I have my fun and I pay for it, and I'm fine with that. Do i like it when noobs hit towers with TT finders? No! But what can you do? right?

Hey samurai!

I'm sure I told you before but not sure if you remember. I have deposited $370 in total. Here's the breakdown:

2003:
$20 to get started.
$20 to keep going.

2005:
$30 to buy my Apartment.

2010:
$300 to buy my Adjusted Hedoc SK-20.

A little reading between the lines should tell you a lot ;)

Well all your posts are very interesting. In my own personal experience, the non-depositors stop after 1 week... or get addicted and work hard to get each pedies in their pocket. Some for sure try the oldest and easiest way: scamming.. How much time a noob asked me if i want to get my pixie in red?

Well for the other, i know they work hard.. they play a "different" game and as it was said in the topic, they deserve some globals or hof sometime. Take a traders at twin peaks like you know who.. well they just invest thousand of USD then spend lots of time to make this money bigger and bigger. That's clearly the same about non depositors except the fact that they are trading with 200-300 PED instead of 20000-30000 PED.

As it was said too, each person in EU has a different goal.. .some just want to have fun with big gears, some wants to get RL profit, some want to get rich without depositing any USD. Finally, i totally agree that whatever or however they play the game, just dont steal or scam people.

I just know some hardcore depositor that hate non-depositors... :(

Hey Mr Dalas,
well you are a special case as i know you and know how you get your PED :)
you teached me the meaning of the word "patience" :) but i stoped running after your SG skills...

I don't need to deposit to hunt anymore. Last two depos were for my weapon and my armor.

I just know some hardcore depositor that hate non-depositors... :(

Only if they get undue luck not commensurate with their ped turnover.

First Six months I did deposits for guns and gear. That was awhile ago. Will do deposits again if I need something that is out of reach.

de-pos-it? what's that?

MW, ( if using MW as a short for your name doesnt fit with you please send a PM to me and I will stop :) ) after reading your post, I see something that I have seen with several other peoples posts that doesnt make sense to me. I made that part in BOLD.

If you are providing a service or product to others that is valuable, there is no reason to feel bad or ashamed for receiving a profit from it. When you go to the store to buy food, are you upset that the store is receiving a profit from your purchases? Are you angry that your internet provider is making a profit from your use of thier services? When you buy gas for your car, do you feel you are being ripped off because the gas company is making a profit on your purchase? EU is based on RCE, and players find ways to make a profit from thier business transactions ( yes its business because of the RCE ). So please dont feel you are ripping someone off because you made a profit on a certain transaction.

*****YES there are scammers in EU that do all they can to rip people off and make as much money as possible. But I dont believe you are one of these people. So, work your game, have fun and profit. I guarantee that those people that know you, they are happy that you have profitted for your play in EU :yay:

Oh I'm not ashamed of making a profit I just don't try to buy sweat off new players for more than 20-30pec per k below the markets going rate. There are a lot of people I see trying to pay new player a ped or more less per 1k and convince them it's the going rate. I also won't try and sell pixie parts for example of auction at the days market value because that market value takes into accounthe auction fees and convenience of it so I often sell things like that for less. I make less money than some people but have the satisfaction of knowing I've been fairer in my dealings.

I Deposit between 80 - 100 us dollars a month,
I very rarely profit. but i have good fun hunting with my m8s and having a chat.

When i do deposit i like to buy a bigger item whether it be a weapon, tool or even some clothes, lol

Its a long term game for me, so without depositing, it would take me years to get better items.

To the non depositers, good luck if you get a global, thats all part of the fun.

Good Poll m8

Wishing you all a happy Global and a mor happy HOF :yay::yay::yay::yay:

Well,

Thx averyone for answering that thread, especially the poll. Next step that would be intersting for me is to know how long a non-depositors play this game... 1 week? 1 year? more?

see you next time :)

happy looting and cheers!

I've been playing almost two years and no sign of me giving up yet :) I'm as happy playing as I was when I started. If not happier because I have an awesome soc and get to write about eu for fun (See my sig and yes this is a bit of a shamless plug:D)

When i first started this game back in 2007...

I had the "newcomer" point of view that i could made money out of this game without investing anything, perhraps that's the fact that i like challenges in other video games, by trying to choose everytime an enough challenging difficulty.

Then after 2 months of sweat i calculated the amount of "virtual money" i had acquired with the time spent, and compared it with what i was earning in real life at the same time, the result was "complete nonsense"...

So i decided to put in my visa, and since i do see Entropia as a big Casino.
And as a casino i accept that i am coming to...

1-loose money and to have fun spending it
2-gratz anyone around depositor or not, that's the game
3-not even think about making money one day with this system

I deposit 100$ every time now, not less because my bank is charging ridiculous amounts if it's less. And when my peds pool will be empty, i'll deposit again... and again and even raise the stakes with time ;)

I am non-depositor, content just to nibble around the edges of the game.
