As the robot wars continue, colonists are gaining ground, but it’s a bloody battle, and some are seeing red, like "Vedder" from Moonlight Shadows in the above captioned shot. He often found himself facing the odds at Hades "C" when confronted by a triple threat of Eviscerators, but he persevered and held his ground in the fight to defend our planet from these invading menaces.

Calypso defenders have regrouped since the robots have reorganized their plan of attack. It seems the massive onslaught against our colony proved to be an inefficient strategy, and have now found it more productive (or so they think) to send smaller groups in frequent waves. In visiting the battlefield, I found individuals holding their own, while teams fought against the more challenging robot units. Here is a look at the locations currently under fire.

[wrap=right]https://www.planetcalypsoforum.com/gallery/files/1/1/8/6/3-la_309365.jpg[/wrap] Upon arrival at Hades "C," it didn’t take long to find the action. Individuals and teams were fighting off just about every known robot model, including occasional Big Bulks. Those fighting alone had their methods, like "La" who wasted no time at all going for the family jewels. By the looks of it, he didn’t see what hit him.

Others enjoyed double-teaming, like "NetStalker" and "Seven" from TDO (The Disturbed Ones) who kept their momentum going, but that could be because of their soc's advantage with the trench they dug at Hades "C" that they not only stocked with ammo, but with Beer.

Not sure if they’re sharing any or not, but they’re a generous bunch, so perhaps you might get yourself a brew or two if you ask nicely. No harm in asking, right?

6-tdo-trench.jpg
I know that the TDO soc has many creative members, as well as those who keep you laughing at every turn, but what I didn’t know, was that "NetStalker" had a hidden talent, or at least a level of flexibility that we were unaware of.

[wrap=right]https://www.planetcalypsoforum.com/gallery/files/1/1/8/6/7-rookiealphawildd3amons_26693.jpg[/wrap]When I arrived at Fort Troy, it didn’t seem to be too heavily under seige, and the robot attacks seemed to have come in manageable waves. However, I found "Rookie" from Alpha WildD3amons leading a pair of Drone Coordinators who seemed to have been escorting a Droka robot themselves to some unknown location.

He was kind enough though to raise a hand to caution me about the bots who were approaching from behind. The one common theme I found in the field from our fellow colonists was definitely the heightened level of helpfulness.

As I turned, I expected to find the usual Drone Coordinator, Droka or Attacker, which seemed pretty common at Troy.

However, instead, I was greeted by a couple of cute Spider Bots. As they shot their little ammo, I could only stand there and laugh, until I found myself reviving in the mobile center. I guess that will teach me to underestimate size, and remember that even small and cute robots can pack a punch. I should have learned that lesson when I started playing with the Tezzies at Oshiri Hearts.

[wrap=right]https://www.planetcalypsoforum.com/gallery/files/1/1/8/6/9-dragonfly-ithaca.jpg[/wrap] It was time to check out another location, but when I arrived at Ithaca, nothing was rendering properly. There were only a few avatars, and the rest of the area was grassy with no buildings, and no teleporter. I found myself TP’ing outside of the city in order for it to render. Not sure if anyone else had this issue, but I eventually was able to see the city and enter it to find yet more of our citizens busy in battle.

Some found advantage points that worked well for them, like “dragonfly” from Vampires HQ (above), who found a ledge to stand on while he fought off a Droka robot.

Meanhile others, like “xgirl” (freelancer) took on whatever she faced in whatever position she found herself in order to do her part in defending Calypso.

Still others took advantage of trapped robots in buildings nearby in order to skill. I found that robots had been trapped inside buildings at Troy, Ithaca, and Zychion, and if one stood close enough to the doors, then one would certainly become their target and take damage.

Returning fire was futile of course, because one would not be able to target the robots, nor see any of them, other than the occasional robot arm through the door where they were trapped at Troy. Listening at the doors, it became clear that there were metal head meetings going on, and I'm just wondering if this was a tactic to retreat and reassemble their forces before the next attack. Anyone who remained close enough to the doors to listen found themselves swiftly removed. I'm relatively certain that it was to deter any gathering of strategy they needed to keep secret.

The level of invaders seemed quite manageable at Ithaca as well, and at times, the colonists said they wished there were more. I actually found this to be true at the other cities as well, but then we were warned in the past with regard to being careful about what we wished for, so perhaps we should take this a day at a time and see if in fact the invader level increases.

While at Ithaca, someone had given me a heads up that there were Big Bulks at Nate Valley, and since I acquired a fondness for this strain of bot from a beacon experience, I figured I would go check out these metal teddybears to see what kind of chaos they were causing. When I arrived at Nate’s, I was greeted by the BigDaddy of them all, a Big Bulk Gen 10, who promptly let me know that I wasn't welcome.

12-bigbulkgen-10-nates.jpg

After catching my breath, my adrenaline was pumping so fast that I had to get back out there to see if anyone was actually fighting against these big boys. I indeed found members of the Shaolin soc heavily engaged and fighting a good battle. It was amazing for me to be that close for any length of time and not laid out flat.

It didn’t take them too long to do the job, but the effort paid off, because they were rewarded with a 219 PED global.

I moved on to Wolverine to see how the action was there, and while things seemed pretty much under control with the wave of robots unleashed at timed intervals, I discovered a couple of unusual things.
[wrap=right]https://www.planetcalypsoforum.com/gallery/files/1/1/8/6/15-legionaire_136551.jpg[/wrap]

For one, I discovered that the Legionaires are very territorial with the purple plants, and they like to hide in them. There was no way that they were going to let me anywhere near my most favorite plant without letting me know that I was intruding.

[wrap=left]https://www.planetcalypsoforum.com/gallery/files/1/1/8/6/16-badboy_815467.jpg[/wrap]

The other quite strange occurrence happened when I came upon "BadBoy" from United Talents Inc, and what seemed to be a secret meeting with a Droka robot. There was no engagement, other than what one might assume to be private chat. It must not have gone well, because BadBoy opened fire and the Droka met his fate.

23-zychion_720510.jpg

I managed to get to Zychion just in time to join a crowd who had gathered to watch a few Warants fully engaged with the toughest of robot model yet encountered, The Eviscerator. It took a while to take it down, but the intensity of the action was numbing, although it seemed that many in the crowd made good use of the time to get some scanning skills. Unfortunately, the effort did not produce a global or hof, but Warants as usual, were dedicated to tracking down any and all invading robots. However, they seemed to be rather sparse at Zychion at the time, unless it was just a lull, and a new wave was about to be unleashed.

At the end of the day, there was no mistake that Calypso is being defended, and defended well. Colonists have taken the robots to task in each of the invaded cities, and have held their ground quite admirably. Without knowing what the future holds, the question remains as to whether we can keep up this pace, especially since we are without backup from Earth, or if we will be required to step up our game in an effort to ward off a more massive seige upon our cities.

I can tell you one thing … despite the intense engagement with the colonists, there were a couple of invaders who found it necessary not only to be bold, but rude.

An Eviscerator thought it would be intimidating to show off his bloody blade tips, but that didn’t deter the defenders of our planet one iota.

eviscerator.jpg

But the boldest and rudest bot of all had to be the Droka who must have been a comedian in his past life.

Heres a shoutout to fellow socmate vedder!

keep at it matey!!!!

w00h0000!

Sounds like the war has only just begun, keep up the good work all you drone fighters!

I tried a bit of fighting on the first day, but was promptly spawncamped and sent packing.

great article MS9!!!!

:wtg::wtg::wtg:

brilliant work as always MS

Great set of articles, MS9!

Just wish I could be up there fighting the bots off along with the others, but my PC prevents me atm.:(
So I stick to mining hoping my finds will help in providing gear for our braves.

I was at most of these spots trying to help out as I heard the "Target Incomming" messages over the communicator in my helmet...

I've taken quite a bit of damage and my resurrection chip has done a good job in the last few days. I hope that I woant sustain too much serious health damage from reviving so many times... (you know what the scientists say about too much reviving... )

My Vigi armour has taken quite some dents and my ML has saved my live in various occasions...

I must say that I was astouned as to the masses of robots that got mobilized for this invasion but then again it's not really a surprise. If you think of it, the robots have given us quite a long break since the last time they invaded and obviously they must have been manufacturing reinforcements no end... the waves of robots just keep coming....

I was overwhelmed with the variety of bots that attacked... the battel was fierce... it seems that one of their main target in hadesheim have been the revivalterminals... specialised draka 5 units were programmed to storm directly towards the revivals and to rekill any reviver asap so that their other forces would meet less resistance...

I've been in battle with only few hours to sleep inbetween and I need some rest now before engaging again... Luckily we still have plenty of ammo supplies...

I wish all the best to all fellow calypsians wo are continuing the battle... don't give up the fight! We shall win this war against the Robots !!!

Long live Calypso !!! :D

News flash !

Wolverine and Nate valley eradicated of the robot menace ! :yay::yay::yay:

Long live Calypsians :yay::yay:

Hoooorah

Nice article MS9!

thank you MS9 for a great story

/Spikey

Nice article as always MS9

That pic is at trench 4 (Or 2.5) and the Beer is holding up well :yay:

Oh poor NS

Great work again MS9!!!

Go Rookie :yay:

Troy might look deceptively calm most of the time, but sometimes there is quite the massive attacks there!

Had one lovely battle with them that really felt like a battle, two clear sides lined up with a battle field between and massive action!

Fired rockets into the mass and got 20 or so bots charging at me, then spreading out to fellow colonists around me grinding them to dust.

Gained 112 points of dodge (to 1320) in the hour or so of fighting before the colonists finally gained an upper hand and could charge and wipe the last bots out :yay:

And, at the end of the battle I was rewarded with my biggest loot so far, and my first hunting loot with TT > 1k, a nice 3971 ped Droka Gen 01 :wtg:

very enjoyable read MS9, great

I also visited most of the places and the action was amazing. Revive at Hadesheim been so busy sometimes, it was hard to escape from there - as Robots tried to "guard" it and shoot you as soon as you revived. But fellow colonists did fight hard to clean it from the robots.

At Zychion everytime I left my watch-place from the bridge I died quite fast :silly2:

And at all places the robots got so confused about the massive defending power of the colonists, they ran around like chicken between the forces and died quickly. :handgun:

Brilliant post MS9 and it is a great event and your coverage is as always dedicated and very eloquently written!
Ithaca:A major attraction to Global Alliance Society due to manageable levels of mob and certainly the revive was kept relatively clean, there was a great deal of camaraderie here from all and sundry!
Hades C: Woohahaha what a great time with a few disturbed, many disturbed, lots of disturbed ...now I am disturbed :D
Nate: the Big Bulk and more! Proudly Global alliance participated at Nate and managed with ease to take one of these nasty Big Bulkboyz down, a great achievement even if it gave nothing by but some bales of uberfinewool...

On a personal note it was great to meet you Mindstar in game after a long time EF chatting

And here’s and recent prediction from Kalanen the bumpy skulloptimust its about Xaphs head, and yes he cant spell science in the link :) but a great phrenologist. I suggest you all subscribe there is no 'snake oil here'

Check his posts to understand
Dr. Pöppel seconded my first impression; it's indeed some kind of text. Meaning of it is still unclear so we'll ignore it at this point.

kk_deep_sweep.jpg

As Kalanen-Gugelkopf WP* scan clearly shows (sorry for shitty quality, important "capes", as we call them, can be found inside rectangles), scoring big with regular mob is propably going to be difficult for you. Your ATH mob has to be old, slow regen mob - and out of your league.

How does mid gen Warlock sound to you? Or Big Bulk?

* I am most definitely old school phrenologist - skleezer, but this seminar gave me not-so-everyday opportunity to work together with Pöppel, Noon and Kugelkopf using modern technology.
Ahhhhh Kalanen

Done the Big Bulk in a Global Alliance Team and things seem a bit fuzzy with the scan, might be the uber wool loot, do Warlocks give out magic wands?
Or do I have to do suggested Warlock solo now, it seems a good time:D

I love the story contributions ... thank you for sharing them. It definitely adds to the depth of what the experiences are out there in the trenches ... except the TDO one of course, because we all know what THAT's about, right? There's no stinkin' ammo in that trench, it's ALL Beer! But hey, as long as it keeps them motivated, on task whippin' bot ass, and havin' a good time, then that's all that matters! :wise:

Nice shout-out to Vedder there Tamn ... he sure was givin' them what for, AND ... I had mentioned him facing a triple threat with Eviscerators but didn't get to include the pic because I'm limited to so many, so here it is ...

vedder-triplethreat.jpg

Yes Rocky, poor NetStalker ... but ya have to admit that it's not very often we catch him that way, right? I'm not talkin' about being dead, I'm talkin' about putting his business all out there like that. How do WE know whether he has his thigh guards on or not, eh? :silly2:

Thank you Xaph ... it was a pleasure to finally meet up with you in game as well. It's been a long time coming, so now I'm looking forward to being able to tap you on the shoulder now and then. :D Also, very nice storytelling of your own there, I really enjoyed it, but ...

With regard to kalanen ... not sure where his head is at these days, but according to what you shared, perhaps it fits right in with these pics I captured of him at Hades "C" during my field trip. I think he owes us an explanation, don't you? I've never seen him this way! :scratch2:

Thanks everyone ... your comments and field reports are appreciated. I love reading them because of how you add a story feel to it, and I'm sorta partial to storytelling. :D

Thank you also ... for the nice EFD Awards ... I'm sure it will all come in handy sooner or later when I get to play the "EFD Fairy GodMother" for some well-deserving forum members.

I see you snuck in here Marco ... good thing I was AFK at the time! ;)
Glad you enjoyed the article. I tried to add my own flare to it, while still giving a field report. I have too much fun out there, but you would think that the community would know by now that when I'm out and about ... my camera is always rolling. :D

Now I'm off to wait for NetStalker to regain consciousness! :hammer:

Awesome reporting as usual

Great job again + rep to you for letting me know what bots were where . You rock as usual ;)

Great stuff MS9 :)

I got in the trench, drank Beer, still in the trench rofl.

Troy may look quiet,

But this was my Radar view today at 11 30 MA Time.

They might be small bots at Troy, but they seem to be going for the weight of numbers approach instead

As you can see from my Radar

Mind you after an hour down there the radar was a lot cleaner of red dots

Lots of Colonists where standing shoulder to shoulder making each wave a large pile of Scrap metal.

When a fireteam, squad, the entire Soc is available, Dragons Shadow will continue to defend the JunkyarD Bar located in northern Hadesheim for the duration of this attack.

That bartender had better hook us up with free beer... if it ever arrives.

Great story Star! :wtg:
Gotta see me some spider bots!

wowie! Brilliant overview and cool pics, dear Sun, our closest Star.
Thanks! :wtg:

Droka to MS9:"Would you mind moving your
Xmassy purple ass please,

Poor software tanker, bunch of strict rules and instructions. :D Haha, I wonder how could look like business within robot community :)
But what "flavour" we could notice on them (ty MS9 for directing us)? Maybe we could infect them with more progressive infobits than that "bloody blade feathers"? Couldn't be that another method to fight them, other than "talk" of using guns.

Excellent as always MS9! :)

I love reading your stuff!

Cheers :beerchug:

very much enjoyed the read thanks for taking the time ms9!!

CooOOoooOOooL Article :)

Cool article MS9, very entertaining. Your memory of some fun with a Big Bulk on a very memorable Beacon Mission (MS9 fapping me on that occassion) inspired me to capture a pic while blasting away today.

While defending Hadershiem from wave after wave of robots tonight we were visted by some Big Bulks. Within no time at all, everyone else around the Central tp was dead; so the challenge to take the Big Bulk down and clear the tp for fresh re-enforcements was firmly on my shoulders. It was made all the more challenging by swarms of Drone Co Ordinators and the occasional Evicerator. See Pic below, you can't see her, but my trusty combat medic (aka Lady Missa Saint) showed the value of a Shadow equipped medic as she took the brunt of the evicerators while I took on the Big Bulk.

Great shot there Ozi ... are those things exciting, or WHAT!!! :yay: I love the Big Bulk ... they're like big metal teddybears (that bite). Looks like you stood your ground quite nicely, and of course with Missa's assistance too. Oh yes, I remember the beacon mission well, but your Aussie ass didn't really need much fapping though! I just kept the fap going at Mach-9 in case of any crits ... but also because I was in the zone with that thing being so close ... it was my first Big Bulk, and the adrenaline was certainly pumping, which I'm sure probably propelled the fap.

Thanks for sharing ... lots of cool experiences coming from the field, it's a great event. I'll be back out there soon to get more coverage, and do more reporting. I like to cover the avatar angle, along with fun stuff, while throwing in bits and pieces of the continuing storyline and what the bots are up to ... like hiding behind doors occasionally, having their metal head meetings to strategize ... like we don't know what they're doing.

Keep the reports coming ... these are fun! :wtg:
